AB ND Gov; 4 months in

Forage; is lecturing me about the Alberta Vote May 5 2015. I was deceived by ND Notley during the AB provincial election. I mis-judged.

"Tom4cwb Sour g****s, the majority of Albertan's have spoken and you can't handle the outcome.

Live with it Tom, you got four more years of it. You should show a little happiness and gratitude towards the privilege and freedom in being able to vote, and live in a democracy. All this negativity is not good for your health."

I simply stated the fact that Fed. NDP Mulcair is scripting AB NDP actions. The Alberta Budget is a good example to start with.

Ms Notley when asked about towing the Mulcair Federal line... SAID:

Notley, casting an early ballot in south Edmonton on Friday morning[May 1], dismissed the attacks.

“I think that’s entirely incorrect,” she said, laughing. “I haven’t spoken with Thomas Mulcair for months and months.

“I’m taking my cues from Albertans and I’m taking my cues from what I think is the best way forward to build Alberta’s economy.”

    Report Card Time;
    AB ND accomplishments:
1]We are told WCB and OH and S Regulation will be mandatory.
    2]Farm workers can unionize.
3]Labour Code changes coming to include farm workers.
    4] Taxes are up.
5] BNN guests keep saying 'stay away from Alberta'
6] Minimum wages are up and to keep increasing.
7]"Grow the economy, not the unemployment lines."; appears to have been meant for ND out of province ND insiders... not Alberta workers/Business.
8] Roll back cuts to healthcare and education.

Very timely post Tom...had a few suppers out this week, many staunch conservative supporters and they ALL had some respect for Notely. (Couldn't swallow total..)
-She did what the she said she was going to do with Corp taxes and first stage of min wage.. a refreshing change...do what you were elected to do...
-She is bringing in some help for the financial part, David Dodge...some think this is a great move on her part.
Most agree that there is a lot more "hidden" deficits from the previous gov, and will take some time to sort out...
-She is approaching the royalty review cautiously, with people involved in the industry and not making any quick drastic changes.

I totally get why BNN says keep your money out of Alberta...money people want corps keeping their power, no power to middle class, some middle class are saying enough is enough.
It will certainly be interesting...and that is good reason alone, even younger people are becoming engaged.

Uhm. BNN said keep your money out of Alberta because the cost of doing business is definitely going up, but no one knows how much.

If the cost of doing business goes up 20% you need to be able to see if investment even makes sense in that environment. Can't do much after the fact, except take a haircut.

Hopefully Saskatchewan can benefit from this 4 year experiment of socialism in Alberta.

It is amazing to me that because Alberta did not want to continue with corruption, arrogance and mismanagement, we have gone to the dark side....we have had years of unbelievable wealth pour through this province and yet we are left with a deficit budget before the times get tough......
Hopefully Sask can keep a better handle on their politicians....oh yeah,....they already have a 12% tax rate...we are only catching up....

If she keeps her cool like she is doing now, it may be more than 4 years....will have to wait and see.
(PS, I am not a NDPer, but I am for change of what we had...)

                      Perfeco,

I truly hope Premier MsNotley will get back on track... and be true to her statements May 1.

If however Premier Notley takes orders from Ottawa/Quebec... it will be a sad state of affairs.

We need fair minded common sense approaches, which are needed to build our economy and province. We can hope this occurs.

I'm with you perfecho, a refreshing change after the complete corruption and incompetence of the previous administration.
So much of it is just bogus rhetoric anyway - redneck paranoia - "minimum wage up and increasing" - as if you could hire anyone for what the minimum wage was in AB anyway.
"farm workers allowed to unionize" - again big scary move - well not really given how the average Albertan thinks - how many would want to belong to a union? and if they did so what? isn't it a bit like free speech, the right to associate with who you want or practice the religion you choose?

Biggest problem with the NDP is how many billions they are going to waste on climate change? The other thing that needs to be dealt with is curbing public sector pensions and NDP will certainly not be up to doing that job.

Good book for all to read, especially if you're new to dealing with the NDP.
