    Mallee,

By the looks of our Canola crops in this art of the Country... the season turned out better than we deserve! Blessed Again! I see plenty of 50buplus pea crops too!!!

We here are good for moisture for a long time... still rutting fields with swathers and sprayers.

However last few systems just miss us and go by along highway 6. Hope that isn't going to be the trend next year...

Not complaining that they miss us now just hope they won't do that all summer.

Furrow, look at Ag Canada rainfall maps.

NW of Edm... Barrhead/Westlock region was the worst anywhere Down over 100mm.

We farm at Edmonton East and SE 100mi (Killam) on rain maps. Looks about what I said July 15. About 85 percent of normal yields on most fields... Edm east/SE short 50mm of normal rain fall this year. East Central AB is short 25mm most areas... We are the same as vast majority of NW and W central SK this year... on rainfall maps. Deep SE AB and Deep SW/SE/NE SK were about the same drought on the rain maps show.. down 50-75mm. Missing 50mm between May 20 and June 20 dropped yield 25 percent below normal... especially when seeded early.
Not understanding why you say not near drought.

I am not sure what % of prairies actually experienced a true drought this year?

In July there were several AV posters calling for a drought emergency payment.....haven't heard this talk in over a month???

              Oliver,

By the looks of rainfall maps... 25 percent AB is below 75 percent of normal... perhaps 12 percent SK is below 75 percent of normal as well. This is eyeballing Ag Canada rainfall maps 90 day May 27 to Aug 27 2015.
