Tragic story in Alberta government’s first fiscal update: A $6-billion deficit and soaring unemplo

These guys made me LAUGH this morning!
The ND in Alberta are almost as entertaining as Donald TRUMP!!!
Didn't expect oil to fall??? And big losses from farmers and drought? What Billion $$$ program on top of existing and reinsured Crop Insurance programs are the AB NDP planning! ??? I will await with baited breath for the drought announcement!!!

    From the Financial Post:
"Alberta’s first fiscal update under the new NDP government paints a tragic picture of the once-booming oil province: a deficit of nearly $6-billion, and growing, despite higher income and corporate taxes; soaring unemployment; slumping manufacturing; and an expected 0.6% GDP contraction in 2015.

If that weren’t bad enough, the province is also reeling from a drought that is hurting its large agricultural sector as well as devastation from forest fires, which boosted the government’s disaster assistance expenses.

“There is no doubt that our big challenge is commodity prices that the government of Alberta does not control,” Alberta Finance Minister Joe Ceci told reporters after presenting the first-quarter forecast for 2015/2016 fiscal year revenue and expenses. “We all know that the price of oil has dropped dramatically in August. Nobody expected global oil prices to reach the levels they are at today.”

Indeed, Ceci suggested the deficit projection could swell to $6.5-billion by the time his government tables its first budget in October, and that the books won’t be balanced until 2018/2019.

Did you hear the story about the guy who found a Genie in a bottle. The Genie said this fellow from Alberta could have anything he wanted!

So in 2 seconds... He asked to live forever.

Too bad the Genie said... that is the one wish I cannot grant.

So the fellow thought for another 2 seconds... then said; OK I just want to live till the NDP in ALberta balance the Budget!

The Genie turned red... then blue... and said "You dirty rascal"!!!

Can you imagine how much more tragic it would have been if the Tories had been returned.....

        Perfecho,

The PC Alberta had the same play book... which is why Prentice handed off to MsNotley in the Debate. So be it... we get exactly the gov. in Alberta we deserve. Fortunately for us... we CAN afford an experiment... fiscally... which will be the hardest on Quebec and other have not provinces in Canada.

So Be it. Will be good entertainment to watch socialists down east get some of their own medicine!!!

        Grin!

Cheers! Not at all unexpected! This IS good for federal Conservatives. Thanks Premier Notley!

At the time, she was the best alternative...and until someone else steps up, so be it.
So far I am with her, but that could change.

If oil is locked in to this level of price salta and sask will be the have not provinces

Ontario Quebec and bc are all heading for tech and manufacturing jobs. Which will see them pass us by a mile.

They are training skilled people we re importing truck drivers.

Ontario and Quebec only have government jobs. There is very little going on in Canada other than oil and farming. Note I count occupations like dairy farming, Canadian banking and wind farm operator as government job as all are coddled by government in Canuckistan.

How on earth do you figure Ontario's heading for manufacturing jobs with the most ridiculous energy prices and policies on the continent driving employers away and Greece-like fiscal management?

                  Little more NDP humour:

Alberta just raised there price of oil estimate to $56 to project a $6 billion deficit.
Alberta has already increased corporate income taxes by 20% which added $1billion. Coincidentally the energy sector has been chopping jobs like crazy.
Meanwhile Notley is in BC campaigning with federal MP's.

Back in Sask, using an oil price of $49 there is a projected $292 million deficit. The finance minister and premier are asking all departments to look to make cuts. (Require 2% spending reduction.)

Dalek hit the nail on the head. These low energy prices should be boosting the manufacturing industries in Ontario, but the lunatic Ontario government purposely hamstrung those industries with permanent expensive energy.
Destroying your economy to save the environment. When we're all chopping trees down to heat our homes because we have no jobs and no oil even if we could afford it, that'll sure solve the "climate crisis".

                      DaleK is right?
The green revolution to force people to buy green things made by green energy???

                      Or
Hope for Trump to be elected... and the worlds NEW saviour to pull us up out of this with him?

How much of the world can turn socialist... like Greece... and Quebec... before the chickens come home to roost???

Trump: Now there is a charismatic guy... that could sell ice to Eskimos when it is 40below 0. I did that temp so it can be both F and C at the same time!
