It's a terrible thing. But my question is where are all these Muslim Middle East countries? Why aren't they doing something? Hungary made the comment they can't do any more because it will affect their Christian stability of their own country. And it will.

Rider you are at least consistent now blaming the lack of a solution to the refugee problem on Harper. In the first place Canada is a member NATO and the head of NATO is President Obama. It is President Obama who instigated the bombing of Isis and directed other NATO countries to join. I would also suggest that the refugees are fleeing Al-Assad and his war on his own people, there is a great deal of evidence of the atrocities committed by his forces. You really need to lose the chip on your shoulder.

I find unusual they are leaving shore in poorly constructed boats when they could just scooch over to Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Isreal or Lebanon. Those neighbouring countries have more cultural similarities like religion (for example) than any country in Europe or North America.
There must be some kind of sympathetic middle east type folks. There is an abundance of oil wealth in those countries.

Australia has increasing unemployment heading towards recession, turning into a welfare state......

But seems were going to take 20,000 Syrians and those who legitimately want to immigrate to Australia for various reasons cant do so, but guess we will have to spread out to all country until its settled or just stop the war and let them sort it out themselves, not sure that right solution either.

That "region" of the world has been unstable for as long as I can remember and as a child feared it was going to be WWIII. Fast forward 4 decades and its still a basketcase. Why, regional strife or International meddling? Likely some of both.

My opinion, it will never be resolved by outside forces, regardless of the cause. If it regional strife, that will always exist. If its International meddling, spending a decade there until it looks stable, install a puppet government, then after leaving things revert back to "normal". Maybe a complete invasion and occupation is the only way, oh pardon me, that would be our way.

Some of them just keep getting "reasons" to hate us. Put yourself in their shoes. Countless lost family lives with decades of instability.

Just rambling, I don't know how to fix it, that's why I grow food.
