my main regional centre 48kms away possibly 8 maybe 10,000 have a real cultural "pot" chinese, kiwis, sudanese, vietmanise local indigenous us caucasions, south Africans, pakistani, the odd middle eastern,a few Europeans and poms we all get on ok so not against it at all.

But genuine people wanting to resettle here have to wait along time have a very good English Friend and his german wife they had to wait for three years and numerous hoops to jump through but they were granted entry eventually and it cost them a pretty penny and they had to have full time employement before entry, have two children born in australia so are productive and adding to the country as do all those above.

But some asslymum seeker a few years down the track are often on the wrong side of the law and get off when in trouble because of there status.

But as I said we will take them but when and how do you draw the line.

Some of my scandanavian friends Sweden and Denmark have said enough is enough and there politicians listen to them maybe there more patriotic, maybe that isn't the word but they look after there own first. Nationalistic may be a better term

Hamlock. President Obama is NOT the head of NATO. Jens Stoltenberg of Norway is the Secretary General of NATO.
Second, NATO has never been involved in the fight against ISIS. Some member countries like the US, Britain, France, and Canada are but they are doing so NOT as part of a NATO mission. Some NATO member countries like Turkey who are even closer to the fight are not involved.

I fear that Islam has world domination as its objective and the refugees are the means to invade without use of military. They believe death is a passport to heaven for believers and not to be feared.
It is a large emigration without needing acceptance by the accepting countries.
We may weep for the two year old while they praise him for opening the doors.

Dml you are correct what I meant to say was the coalition against Isil is led by the US. In a May 26 press release Jens Stoltenberg after a meeting with Peesident Obama said that all NATO member counties were contributing to the US led coalition. The tone of his remarks show NATO support for what is being done. I appreciate you correcting me

Most of us are here because our forefathers wanted opportunity and a better life. Who here would uproot themselves for anything other? When the risk of leaving is less than the risk of staying the choice is easier to make.

              Be thankful.

I am not that suspicious of some of these peoples intentions. But might be a bit naive. ...

who is going to pay for all these muslim refugees when they get here, and they will by the thousands and thousands. Most will be unemployable so will be on social programs. Health care costs and child care. Housing. The list goes on and on. This is a great way for them to get here and dodge the immigration process. A good friend of my wife is married to an American. He is educated and has good employment in the u.s. he has multiple job offers waiting here. Three goddamn years and he is almost in. These muslim refugees are so happy to get here they will do or say anything, a couple years down the road they will be taking the government to court over religious freedom crap because they want their old country lifestyle and ways to be carried on here with no regard for our Canadian culture. I feel for them but is there no middle east countries willing to take them.

Farmaholic, the pioneers integrated into our society no questions asked and pulled their own weight and built a country and communities. It seems now that's not the way. People come here and want their same beliefs as before.

                  Merry Christmas.......
                  Need I say more.

Also how many are extremeists. No one is being screened. Isis can set up shop anywhere with a refugee deal like this. How can you let 10s of thousands of people in from a terrorist region of the world and give no one background checks, who knows who you are letting in. And don't think that its not happening. these isis guys are no dummys.

You can always greet them at the airport with a hug and a warm glass of cocoa.

You boys forgot where ISIS came from. They are the result of George W Bushes adventure in Iraq.

The media hound Canadians to take on refugees. But the same Canadian media ignore the the neighbours of the refugees, who do nothing, even though the have a common language, religion, proximity, food and customs:

                            Refugees taken in by:
                            Saudi Arabia: 0
                            Qatar: 0
                            Kuwait: 0
                            Emirates: 0
                            Bahrain: 0

                            Ask yourself why. Pars.

Those countries are all Sunni and most of the refugees are Shia if there coming out of Syria.

Sounds like Russian boots are on the ground fighting there so grab the popcorn.

Caving to every minority interest group is our fault not theirs. Who made the ****ing laws? What happened in WWII with the European Jews? Many countries never took them as immigrants either.

Look, you're not going to get any arguments from me, assimilate or stay home. One of the first steps onto the slippery slope was the turban wearing RCMP. A CANADIAN icon and they allowed that? That was insane. Removing the crucifix from schools. Changing anthem lyrics. Morning prayer in places. Changing Christian greeting and holiday names...... like I said no argument from me.

Law changes to protect others "identity" all the while you lose yours.

Ask yourselves how accommodating are the other counties to your customs?
