Did UAN for years - and it's not a fraction of the cost . It has to be a separate pass and can cause leaf burn . Also must have decent rain to get it into soil then into plant . Kugler on the leaf goes into the plant regardless if it rains as long as the plant is growing. Also the slow release feeds the plant over time - the UAN , if it rains is takin in all at once and more times than not resulted in lodging.
You don't make money growing straw - ask guys last year .
How has time saving failed ? Seeding is a short window and top dressing UAN can have very small windows of opertunity - I have been there done that .

I know it was sure nice combing standing wheat last year at 4.5 mph - a lot of logged wheat around was a struggle at 2.5 to 3 with headers flat on the ground with feederchains taking a beating from rocks at tough straw. There was a huge cost to that and a lot of lost time .

Wheat doesn't lodge because you put all the nutrients out at seeding time. It lodges because you have improper ratios of nutrient at seeding time.

Ya , your right , that's all part of it . But now we are barking up the same tree . That is true at seeding and also what can be applied after

Plot D should be 110 of 37-12 with no foliar. How do you know if the last 40 lbs was used?

You need a calculator sask can
                $65 for the 220 lbs
                $35 for the 110 lbs
That's a tad more than $6 diff in fert cost , but whatever slam away lol
You don't have to go down to 1/2 the fert - it's just what he tried .
We do about 70% of what we target at seeding which gives us 160 ac per fill . It's not at all about fill times as you seem to be stuck on - it's about getting the most out of what you can with the equipment you have. Also reduce the amount of risk exposure before growing conditions are even remotely known . Ask guys out east that have put all fert down at seeding only to watch crop get flooded out . Or guys in the south west that watch their crops burn up in the drought . It's also about spreading out your risk . Remember 2000 to 2003 ?

It's very easy to set up a tote with a 2 in line just before your water pump to fill into sprayer - takes 2-3 min to suck out a 1000 LTE tote get get up to 6 LT /ac if needed . It's not a hassle at all .

                    Data from another wheat plot:
6 different trials from check to 10 liters total Kugler
Here a base fert was used at seeding and different rates of Kugler were applied during the season
                    Base was 60 N and 4 gal/ac phos
Low was Check was 60 N at seeding 52 bus/ac
High was 60 N at seeding and 5 ltr at herd and 5 ltr at Fungicide 64 bus/ac
Foliar was Kugler 2075 at Herbicide and Kugler XRN at early heading on this field.
Fertility at seeding was not adjusted in this plot.
I will post all numbers when protein and bus weights are done

Oooook. If you add in the cost of Kugler its a 6$ differential in cost....
