My opinion of VT machines are a new fad. Cultivators worked for years and years and do a great job. I VT'd two fields last fall with a rented machine and i cultivated a field with an old 5000 dollar bourgalt and it did just as good or better than the VT. If you feel that u have the money and the horsepower and need to burn up fuel then the VT machines are for u!!

My opinions would exactly mirror furrows comments. Best germination in one of the driest springs we have seen all behind the Protill. Highest canola yields all behind protill. Ours is paying for itself quickly .. TStep to say a cultivator does the same job is a tad short sighted..

Must be magic tillage that does not dry out soil or did you get a half inch after seeding? My neighbour pro tills areas of fields worst looking parts of his crops. Lentils full of disease where he pro tilled. Should have taken a picture before and after. Only takes a 1000 years to regain one inch of lost top soil. Next you'll tell me the mythical protilll is immune from causing the dirt to blow.

protilled at 1.25" and packed.. Moisture at 1/2" at seeding. No rain at all to germinate it.. It's not magic but if you aren't smart enough to understand the concept and what is being accomplished with them then they probably aren't for you. As far as soil blowing, we have seen enough of that to know what can and what shouldn't be done . 20 plus years of complete zero till, coupled with rodent piles, sprayer tracks etc have left some fields so rough it damn near shakes your guts out.. One pass solves the problems..
