Ken Ritter in this weeks Western "Seducer" took to task David Anderson's letter of the previous week.
Ritter likened the CWB to that of an Auctioneer. Ken fails to realize whether you call the CWB and agent auctioneer that they have an obligation and responsibility to the best job for the client, in this case the grain grower. The CWB has not had that in mind as they feel that they must control the flow of grain making sure that they never short the domestic market of cheap product. They also coddle the bidders giving them the best of terms, maltsters get unlimited selection with no consequence if they don't need it as there is always an out on their behalf when it comes to quality at the end of the crop year.
Ken, when and if you have a farm sale don't expect me to bring my equipment to your sale so that you can get a crowd. You will have to sell it on it's own merits and not average it with your neighbours new line of equipment.
One last point. Auctioneers have to preform to stay in business. Just because you have an auctioneers license doesn't mean that you will stay in business.
