    Splits

Just found out my SWP is taking an extra 2 percent splits. I am delivering .5 splits average and they are taking on another 2 percent to everyones so I get 2.5 percent splits. Their reasoning is that after the peas run through the system they will split some. I have delivered peas over the years to different places and I have never heard of tacking on another 2 percent. Anyone else heard of that? I think should get what is delivered.

Sample & Seal bags should straighten that out for you.

The Pool is good at these mystery deductions. Truth of the matter is that they are allowed to ship edible peas at a maximum of 6% splits per car and still call it human consumption with no deduction on their part at unload of the car. Every percent they charge the producer is easy money for them. Adding 2% splits is making farmers pay for their own inefficient handling of product. However, they are willing to negotiate on these deductions with a little persuasion.

that's ridiculous. find someone else to deal with.

there are buyers paying $6.75/bu now for edible-quality yellows so you could be leaving a lot of money on the table by not shopping those peas around.

Got called into the office at the SWP this morning and they will no longer be taking an extra 2 percent splits.
