How presumptuous of you cotton. Do you honestly believe that everyone else in western Canada has already swept their bins clean when it comes to pricing board grains? Give your head a shake.

Cotton,
"And just how much of their wad would everyone have left to blow at these levels?"
How much of our grain HAS the CWB priced Cotton? Does anyone know?
I was told it was to be portioned out at a fixed amount per month, during the pool sales year.
I doubt that the CWB is being honest with anyone about what it has done for 07-08 sales. Malt Barley clearly was sold last fall for 07-08 at low prices, how much 07-08 wheat was done then?
Must have been a huge portion by the amount of "late" Adjustment Factor we are paying on our PPO Fixed Price Contracts, and the basis discounts we are forced to absorb.
The very issues that force the AWB into a corner, are the CWB issues as well.
If the CWB were to sell 1/12th of the crop from October 1/07 to October 1/08, how much "late" adjustment factor SHOULD the CWB be charging me?
Why does the CWB presume the CWB pool "owns" all the wheat and barley grown; when nothing in the CWB Act gives the grain to the CWB in the first place!
Section 32 says the CWB is to market grain offered to it.
Instead the CWB managers confiscate our grain before we even grow it.
In Plain Simple Language:
Where does the CWB get the right to confiscate all wheat and barley and sell it through the CWB pool; where is this stated in the CWB Act as ammended in 1998?

ricochet;
As I understand it, Please correct me if I am wrong:
CWB Fixed Price Contract prices are for a #1 CWRS 13.5 protein in store Port of Vancouver or St Lawerence.
Ontario Board prices are for a #2 CE(Eastern)RS no protein, which comes very close to a CWB 3CWRS no protein grade; at the local elevator/terminal in Ontario.

Went to the USDA Portland market site for another purpose and saw the following. http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/JO_GR110.txt
Exporter offers on Tuesday night for November shipment FOB vessel in
US dollars per bushel:
US 2 or btr Soft White Wheat $ 9.10 up 16
US 2 or btr Western White Wheat $ 9.13 up 16
US 2 or btr Hard Red Winter Wheat, ord.% $ 9.27 up 30
US 2 or btr Hard Red Winter Wheat, 11.5%$ 9.31 up 30
US 2 or btr Hard Red Winter Wheat, 13% NA
US 2 or btr Northern Spring Wheat, 13% $ 9.08 up 29
US 2 or btr Dk Northern Spring Wheat, 14% $ 9.12 up 29
US 2 or btr Northern Spring Wheat, 14.5%$ 9.14 up 29
Off topic but how aware are farmers of wheat cash market prices outside Canada. Does private industry/other sources publish this information for farmers to review or are most farmers left to dig out on their own? Realizing Alberta Agriculture and Food/Alberta Grain Commission already publish some prices, is there a need for government to do more?

Cotton:
Chaff is Franny,Incog, and wedino and a few more.
By the way Franny, what is the trucking or rail cost to SW Ontario from your farm?
Also, could it be that the Ontario wheat mills have to pay $8.00 /bu because the CWB refuses to sell to them at a price less than this?
I guess in a "free market" you would be the first one in line willing to UNDERCUT your neighbours and sell at $7.95/bu, and then force the next guy to sell at $7.90/bu........ and eventually the Ontario price is back to $5.00/bu.
Sueweeee.

Benny Hin or Burbert or wilagro or Agstar or "man" in drag or whatever other names you use. Something does not become true just because you keep typing it.
I understood it was pretty clear that the following were all different people Chaff,Franny,Incog, and wedino.
"I guess in a "free market" you would be the first one in line willing to UNDERCUT your neighbours"
What kind of stupid comment is that?

BennyHin,
Why is something the price it is in the first place?
Cost of Production... plus a REASONABLE Profit = selling price.
Who is more likely to mess up sales?
1. A CWB sales dept. that has always said my costs and needs were not a concern of theirs... and that the customer they sell to could care less either, and this "Single Desk" marketing system confiscates our grain without a cost of sales so they don't know the real value in any event;
OR
2. The Grower of produce who is responsible to his family, farm, and community to bring home as much return as possible... a person who is shrewd and knows the value involved... the person who's blood sweat and tears went into creating the product in the first place... is the likely one to undercut and give it away?
What a web we weave... when we practice to deceive...
Please explain why Canola has not fallen through the floor... a big supply is avaliable Benny... yet the price keeps on rising... to suck it out of growers hands! Backwards to your claims.
The Ontario Board has much more to concern it self with than just the goofy CWB give away sales dept..
Ontario uses our CWB to blend up Ontario quality... so they can get even more value than if the CWB didn't give the high quality & sell at low prices...
If the Ontario Board does not arbitrage UP to US prices... it (or the Ontario end user) won't in many cases get the wheat at all... period end of story. Better to secure the local supply, than need to ship the wheat in from some far away land with unknown quality!
A CHOICE Market Place... value maximised in the interests of the wheat grower in Ontario.

To Benny Boy Will Going with a relative today to Bottineau Farmers Elevator since we are not going to harvest because of rain and sleet went for a drive. Here is what he is getting for #2 Durum from Farmers Elevator not the CWB.
Delivery Date Basis Month Basis Cash Price
Sep 30, 2007 NONE 0.00
Settlement price $9.20 a Bushel.
1256 Bushels x $9.20 = $11,555.20 US
Now me the Stupid Canadian farmer delivering to Cargil or VIAGRA
1256 x 2.97 (PRO is $8.49 - 1,50 freight = 6.99)= $3,730.00 now I have to wait for $5,049.00.
$8,779.00 total to me from CWB fall of 08.
Difference for people with IQ like Benny $2776.00 less thanks to CWB.
Now take US dollar and add $401.00 for that difference I am out $3,177.00
Benny that's real money not some BS like you spout. Most of us are getting sick and tired of CWB supporters that just don't get what is happening. Also took a sample of My #2 in Canada the guys looked at it and figured it would grade a #1 and its 15.6 protein. you don't want to know that price. Benny you are such a Loser. Oh I guess that's harsh since under the CWB system all western Canadian grain farmers are losers.
