    Harvest Progress!

East Sask we finally got rolling again on Saturday morning Standing HRS it was testing 16.7 - 17.5 took it and put in Aeration. By Sunday afternoon we were at 12.5 standing desiccated two weeks ago yield in late wheat is Good. Will try to take all HRS standing this week in case it Snows and don't want to deal with flatter crop than is their.

RM 367 Ponass Lake, Canola 10-12% on Saturday, everyone combining around here. Yesterday 22 and 20% humidity, canola at 8%, oats was close to dry. This morn heavy dew and overcast? Need many more days like yesterday. About 30% combined in area.

Yesterday was first day with dry wheat. Canola only dry Saturday for most guys. Plagued with high humdity and cool nights. Harvest not starting till early afternoon. Showers last night and forecast suggests we will not be combining this week.Wheat yields good, barley poor and canola slightly below average.

Didsbury/Olds area, mixed some canola, barley, peas and wheat combined, lots still standing, some frost has shown its effect on. Got some barley swathed, prefer to straight cut it, yet one worries about snow and flat crops. Some late frozen canola being chopped for silage. Fair amount of winter wheat seeded and emerging.
As with Craig, continued dampness here, Sat and Sun were good days if you had any thing dry or close to it. Cooler and damp with threat of snow on Wendesday, not improving till the weekend.
Looks like an Oct harvest here!

Start - stop -start - stop. We are starting to feel like union workers. Two and a half days on 3 off.

Yea, exactly. We're finished here in SW MB, but we got started in early August and had annoying rain showers every single week along the way and finished last week when we though we could be done in August. Now we could use a nice rain for the winter wheat....

Past the half way mark yesterday. Another good day today. Just have to get the PTO housing clutch worked on in the morning hopefully a mechanic is available. 4 am now and going to bed, must be up at 6:30 to work on repairs. Forecast just turned more friendly.

fjilip, Wheat yields where disapointing for the stand, but still averaged over 30bu/a.. Most grading #1, some #2. Canola for us was all over the map mostly due to severe rains we had in late May and June which really set it back and drowned alot. Yeilds anywhere from 20 to 35 bu/a. Dockage is quite high on most canola with shriveled seeds from the blast furnace heat we had in July with 35-40c temps. Overall things turned out better then expected after the excess rains and then extreme heat.

Jay-mo, that sounds like our area, (2006 yields in brackets) the wheat yields of 30bu/ac (55) straw for 50 are due to midge damage, heat and frost. Most is grading 3 even some feed due to sprouts. Winter wheat sprouted in Aug showers also poor yields. Canola hybrids with huge growth produced a disappointing 30bu/ac (50)due to flooding May rains, July heat, aster yellows,& bertha. My June 5 seeded DKL 3275 also made 30bu/ac (45) with half the plant growth. Barley about 60 bu/ac (85), oats 90bu/ac (130). Every crop had lots of straw & empty heads...politican type vareties I hear, LOL. 2007 Yields X 2007 prices - 2007 costs are less $$ than 2006 in our area. Area about 40% done harvest.
