What I find extremely frustrating is the media reporting on % harvest completed. We have had 3 good harvest days all fall yet it's implied harvest is progressing at near normal rates. While I have the luxury of a grain dryer, many do not and I see the look of frustration on their faces as moisture tests at the elevator never quite get dry.Even with a grain dryer harvest progress has been slow. Estimates in my area are 25 to 40 % done with the west areas hardly touched.Samples of wheat are looking poor now. Without significant changes in our weather pattern I expect a lot of tough grain will be coming off in mid to late October.

Craig I hear your frustration it just kills me every Monday when Sask Ag and Food Terry Bedard announces the Harvest is Almost done at close to 80% then I drive north East of Regina to the Farm and yes around Regina its 80% but once north of the Valley lets try 60%.
Here is the problem this department is made up of People who are all close to retirement and are living in 1970 mode.
Most crop reporters are 4 to 6 quarters and close to retirement.
Every large farmer I know has a 20 for quarters left to go.
So terry get the facts strait its 60% not 80%

Ponass Lake RM #367 at about 50%. Yesterday Canola at 10.5% and 12C so it should store. Yields are disappointing. Early oats is VG, 110 @ 43 lb/bu. All crops still out depending on what was seeded in June. Cloudy but windy 57% hum and NO dew this morn. Hope you all miss the chance of a shower. S-M-T sound like good drying.
