There have been rumblings that every item contained in the upcoming throne speech could be involved in a vote of confidence. What are the chances that we could see the CWB issue involved. Anyone with any inside information???

Highwayman,
If there is an election called... I think it would be great!
Goofy Goodale would be gone... and If Flaman was in the middle of an election Campaign running for the Liberals... HE WOULD BE in a conflict of Interest every time he opened his mouth or voted!
My bet is... the Liberals WILL NOT allow an election to be called... Goodale is not done with us yet! He has not smacked us with all the revenge he has planned for us yet!
Anyone know what chances Rod would have to win the Regina/W EDA ?

I would agree that the Liberals don't want an election which makes this an opportunity for the government to take the necessary steps to unshackle us and end this ridiculous monopoly. The question is do they have the stones to press forward and honour their election platform on which they virtually swept the designated area or are we simply getting fed lip service. With the conservative momentum building in eastern Canada the time is ripe for change. Mr. Ritz needs to step up to the plate and knock it out of the park before some of the best grain prices that this generation has ever seen pass us by.

For what it's worth, was talking to a fellow at the hockey rink yesterday (yes it's that time of the year again), who is a cousin to my MP Merv Tweed, and also a market choice supporter. Merv told him that we will probably see cwb (barley at least) legislation soon, he also said he feels the PM is determined to deal with the cwb.
Was also reading a G&M article about PM Harper visiting Churchill and was asked about the viability of the port if he gets rid of the cwb monopoly.
----------------------------
But Friday Mr. Harper said that whatever happens with the wheat board, the port will have customers.
“The government of Canada will ensure this port is used and that there are shipments,” Mr. Harper said.

Kinda sounds to me like he's ready slay the dragon.

there are two non-board vessel shipments set to leave through churchill soon - feed barley sold back in may when we thought there was going to be an open market; and yellow peas.
don't these examples seem to discredit the notion that churchill relies on the cwb monopoly for survival?

It also sounds to me like Mr. Harper is an interventionist.
"The government of Canada will ensure this port is used and that there are shipments,” Mr. Harper said.
Which is he? Interventionist or free market enabler? Will the real Mr. Harper step forward?
He is also quoted in the same article; "That said, whether farmers sell their own wheat or sell it through the wheat board...is ultimately a decision for farmers."
That could have come right out of the mouth of Ralph Goodale.
Clarity please, Mr. Harper.

What the politisions say and do are two different things.
"We will not tax income trusts"
"we will not overstate surplus's"
"we will get rid of the gun registry"
"we believe in smaller government spending"
Put my money on everything stays the same with the board.(maybe barleys gone-for the simple appeasement of the grass roots crowd and deniability)
And if the conservatives cant win a majority with the left split 4 ways then they should be taken outside and kicked in the balls.

Not going to disagree with you cotton,
We've had close to two years of Harper gov't and out here in the sticks you couldn't be sure that Chretien wasn't still the PM.
Barley is a no brainer for the PM in the throne speech, that is if he has any spine and integriy at all,
But the CWB Act could easily be repealed as well, but that would require guts, bravado, and bold vision, in essence real leadership and the willingness to use the bully pulpit of the position of PM to make happen.
Still hopefull, but won't believe it until I see it.
