    Harvesting in NE Sask

Hopefully finally today the Canola will get close to 10 but they are calling for showers for Wed.
    Need three good days.
Only combining yesterday was standing Oats late in Day and Standing Mustard.
Prov the harvest stalled last week with a increase of only 1%.

Canola yesterday at 3 pm was 15.2. Will it come dow 5 today? I do doubt it. Should I take it now? Wed, says 40% chance of rain, but in our area that usually means an inch...

last year, we dried canola over 13% moisture, had to run it through 2 times but got it done. Considering how much you lose leaving it over winter, I would take it off and dry it. We left wheat testing 20 last year and then it got snowed on, wished now that we had taken it off and dried it! Just my 2 cents.

Reminds me of a year hmm about 4 or 5 years ago I left barley over winter after it got snowed on just could not justify the cost of drying and the price of the stuff, it was already germinated and poor feed and lite. Some of the neighbours took off canola with snow in it and had to pile it on the ground because the ones that put it in the bin found out that that was a no no. Drying was over a dollar a bushel for them but that was better than the over wintered crops. If it snows in early then the snow will protect the swath, if no snow then it will be thrashed out by wind in my opinion. By the way the barley with snow in it in my batch dryer took 9 hours to dry and water was running out the bottom of the dryer, the surprising part was it actually did it.

Had one heck of a day yesterday. Got going by 12 noon and went till 1:00 till one 9660 plugged and broke a hanger on the rotary, so couldn't change the concave clearance. Trucks full and combines so quit, No men left.
This morning no rain so started up field and then the rain or mist hit and all done.
But were down to less than 700 acres. Canola was dry as we started the second quarter last night at 7:00 pm. Earlier in day was 11
Hopefully two or three days and were done. Custom guy got help so only 900 acres of oats to do.
