That's the real question now isn't it.

And no, I am not sure if they want to change it.

But if they do, this is the best opportunity they've had since they first got elected.

The Conservatives SAY they want to give farmers marketing choice - in election campaigns, and Harper, Strahl and Ritz have all made comments in the public about it too. Barley choice was mentioned yesterday in the throne speech.

We're supposed to take their word for it - I guess. But actions speak louder than words, and some action here would show that this Government means what it says. Wouldn't that be a refreshing change?

I don't understand the hesitation and lack of action. They have nothing to lose by delivering on their election promises.

Isn't that what we all want, a government that actually delivers on its promises? Cynicism is bred when they don't.

Like income trusts and smaller government budgets.
Its almost like people should vote for the opposite government to what they think they would like to see.

One thing i did find interesting was the carbon trading thingy.Could be worth something to us.

It's one thing to get a positive vote for change on barley and another for wheat. Who wants to see the results of a "one farmer one vote" plebiscite on wheat? Not me.

The bureaucracy in Ottawa runs deep and, as the old saying goes - wheat is 13% protein and 87% politics. So true.

Harper will deliver. He's not at all like the political leaders we have had in the past. As an old Reformer I've known Stephen for almost 20 years. He's a get the job done kind of guy with amazing vision. When the time and priorities are right - big picture - he will make it happen.

            Tom's right - have patience.

In a "one farmer one vote" scenario the monopoly side needs 75% of the vote to win. Compulsory marketing, including confiscation can't be dictated by a 50% plus 1 vote majority. Precedent has been set in Ontario & Quebec & the canola vote held during the '70's.

                Wedino,

                Good Point!

And if real live actual Winter Wheat growers were asked... I believe we could even meet the "goodale" standard!

Here is an action plan for you marketeers on Angriville. Take a deep breath and hold it, wait for the Harp to take action, before you breath out!!!!!!!!!
