    marketing courses

anyone know of any marketing courses/ workshops coming up? Or any good ag related course as far as that goes.

I was always meaning to ask about that one that advertises 1/2 percent gains every 2 weeks which is over 30 percent gain every year no matter which way the stocks go. Is that all bullshit or is it real?
Anyone taken that one that can say it really works? I suppose that is more like investment not really marketing.

      dfarms11,

The George Morris Centre does the CTEAM Course, it would be hard to find better training!

      http://www.georgemorris.org/GMC/CTEAM.aspx

      New start date for CTEAM

Due to this season’s late harvests, Module 1 of CTEAM, previously scheduled to begin November 29, 2005 has been postponed to March 7-11, 2006 in Banff, AB. The revised dates are:

      Module 1: March 7-11, 2006 - Banff, AB
      Module 2: December 5-9, 2006 - Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON
      Module 3: February 27-March 3, 2007 - Ste-Adele, QC
Module 4: Dates TBA - Halifax, NS

To register or for further information, contact Lynn Punnett at (519) 822-3929, x204 or by email. The registration deadline has been extended to December 15, 2005.

The Canadian Total Excellence in Agricultural Management (CTEAM) program is the most innovative program of its kind in Canada. The top 20% of farmers in Canada come together to learn from each other, network and access the top agricultural experts in Canada.

Here’s why CTEAM participants find the course so valuable:

Content and instruction – outstanding instructors and mentors present cutting edge management concepts in a relaxed, yet intense learning environment. The on-site portions are delivered over five-day periods at select locations across Canada. They introduce you to a variety of management situations, experiences and conditions.
Learning is tailored to your situation – graduation requirement is to apply course material while developing a strategic and operating plan for your farm.
Learning from each other – CTEAMers invariably comment on how much they learn from each other because of the high level of aspiration and performance they bring to the course. As you develop your plan, you get instant and expert feedback from 19 other farm managers.
The opportunity to see outstanding operations – one reason we move the program around Canada is to include elective tours of interesting and creative operations in the different regions. CTEAM participants promptly made them required and the tours are regarded as one of the highlights – you get to learn much more about your country and to see some of its outstanding agricultural managers.
A life-long network – participants from the first course continue to be in touch with each other, and benefit from each other’s wise counsel. This always comes up as a wonderful benefit of the program.

FCC gave a course called Performance Marketing Workshop it was a two day course taught by Brenda Lepp of Farm Link. lots on costs of production and different strategies
probably one of the best I took last year it was free and CASS covered the hotel, mileage and labour replacement.

I hate blowing my own horn, especially if I'm a little out of tune.

I'll be offering two eight-day crop marketing courses this winter. One in Linden or Three Hills (January) and one likely at Oyen (February)Alberta. These are NOT eight consecutive days. They're either two or three days per week depending on what the participants want.

My colleague, Neil Blue, whose office is at Vermilion, is also offering a couple of similar courses at two or three locations. The number of days depends on what the participants want but they're typically five or six days, again not consecutively. Neil can be reached at 780-853-8239.

thanks JW! i really enjoyed doing those courses last year.

we aren't doing any this coming winter with FCC, but are booking ourselves out to run courses for other farm groups across rural western canada.

anyone interested please call farmlink's office in winnipeg at 204 832 2133 to discuss fees and availability. we're flexible on the length and style, and the topics offered, and can send either one or a couple of facilitators to run beginner and advanced versions simultaneously.

thanks for all the replies everyone, I'll be sure to try at least one of them! Tom, how the heck does a guy justify the costs associated with the one you mentioned? It looks like a really good course, but is it really possible to recoup all those costs?
