I see US Durum growers working on contracts for next year!

What a novel idea... a contract for a good price WITH an act of God clause!

"2007 Was a Great Year for Durum Growers -- US Durum Growers Association President Jim Diepolder is now focused on 2008. "We've been aggressively seeking new crop contracts with the millers, telling them we need $9 and $10 durum contracts," said Diepolder, "We're telling them to compete with canola, barley and other specialty crops, they're going to have to be in that $9 and $10 range, with an Act of God clause."

So why isn't the CWB working along with US growers to assure us on both sides of the 49th that we can make a fair living growing our grain?!

The CWB doesn't even try to work along with Western Canadian growers,let alone with American growers!

The Anti-American diatribe coming from the lead trio... Easter and Orchard and Goodale... sets the tone of the tribe at the CWB.

And co-operating with neighbors isn't their style or goal, is it?

Just curious if the CWB will sell $10/bu new crop durum with the act of god clause being they have exclusive access to 4 to 5 mln tonnes of western Canadian production? Would it be a bad thing if the CWB offered these contracts to farmers directly versus maintaining 100 % of these sales as a part of the durum pool?

The sad part of this is that the CWB prevents orderly marketing, THE CWB prevents Act of God clauses... when they should be the leaders and extracting this risk management tool out of those we do business with!

Why should "Designated Area" grain growers take all the risk... pay all the cost... and be forced to turn over high quality at subtandard prices... because 423 Main folks are too thick to know the differernce!

The CWB wrecks it for us, for American growers... for Canola, you name it the CWB sets the standard.

These folks at 423 Main have an "Act of God" Clause in their pay schedule... why don't they fight for growers and stand up for us for a change... instead of everyone else in the supply chain? With friends like these "turkeys" who needs enemies?
