Sure if they wish not to take series C because it would reduce the pro then they (CWB) should offer a separate pool on that grain. But last year they screwed farmers on the pro because they moved grain into the new year. I would also be for fixed price options possibly. And like Tom said, why should some farmers get rich on the daily price lottery? My compost is too good now to go to CWB headquarters. Could make new stuff. I am confused.

Charlie,
I truly wonder if this isn't a straight "self preservation" move.
If the "single desk" is truly on the chopping block, the CWB would not get the grain.
If they "force" folks to sign wheat and barley up now... or be stuck with their grain and not be able to market it if marketing choice is not put in place... that would depreciate the value of their produce.
Moves like this are not is the "good will" spirit or respectful of our growers property. They could well back fire... and prove the CWB will do anything to force "designated area" growers into selling at prices less than fair market value!
"Extracting a premium" is obviously a term used with a grower in mind... and sadly the premium seldom ends up in the growers bank account who grew the extraction!
This is the only true "single desk" power the CWB has... and they are using it once again!
