    CWB Survey

Just a word of caution. I was hooped into a survey this afternoon from HRG?? about marketing grain on the prairies. It was mostly CWB questions. Took close to half an hour and they wouldn't pay. I went as long as I could, to express my opinion of the CWB, but enough was enough.

is anyone going too the combine too customer alumni conference in Regina this year.
Will this be the place that they announce that they will be operating a cash price for barley, in tandem with the pooled price option since they will no longer have monopoly powers in Barley?

You have to recieve an invitation.

      Probably Burbert got one.

So what if they are offering a cash price for barley,IF NOONE ELSE CAN EXPORT.They still have a dampening, price limiting, ceiling effect on the price of grain here in the ghetto.

Look at them as a giant check valve. One way.Prices can be higher in the outer world and they can stop grain from flowing out,as happened aug 1.But prices can NEVER be higher here cause the giant CWB check valve just oppens up and lets millions of tons of corn for ex.come pouring in.

        The check valve from hell.

What is significant about this valve is that it contravenes NAFTA.

Goods must be able to flow freely both inside and outside Canada.

          It does not.

The CWB allows feed grain to sell within Canada but the VALVE prevents it from being exported.

The CWB Directors are acting in contravention of NAFTA.

Parsnip, Why don't you run for dictatorship on the CWB, den you could tear it down, from the inside. Or can't you git the votes to become a winner, and instead will remain a whinner!

              Burbert,

Why would we have a vote to take away private property?

For instance... Lets say we have a vote to:

Charge you BURBERT with a CWB tax credit... for every tonne we market you must pay the missing $60/t to us!

Bet you the majority here would vote in favour of you paying us the missing value.

Would that be fair Burbert? Would you then happily pay up; if the vote goes against you?

Well they got me tonight. Whoever thought up the line that there is no such thing as a stupid question never did a wheat board survey.

There were too many to remember them all but here's one,' Are you sick and tired of the whole CWB debate and just want it to be over one way of the other?' You are supposed to agree or disagree with the statement.

A two part question but you only get one answer. Nice. Yes I'm sick and tired of it but no I don't want it to be over until I get the right to sell my own grain. Geez!

There was another one along the lines of, do you think Cargill is doing a good job representing farmers views. When the heck did Cargill Canada turn into a farm lobby group? As far as I know they haven't said boo about anything.

My name came up for this survey. They would not tell me who was sponsoring this survey, so they git nothing from me.It also came right at suppertime and these people should know that you do not come between a farmer and his meals.
