Farmers its time to take back our Industry!

The more I look at Agriculture in Canada the More I feel farmers need to start taking back this industry.
How is the million dollar question, since that is close to what groups like PMRA, CWB, CGC, Fert, Companies and Chem companies have cost the average farmer over the last 10 - 20 years each.
Simply in canada we are regulated on every thing and for only one reason it creates jobs.

    power surge..
    any way.
the other thing as long as farmers sit their and let these groups walk over us we will always be at the bottom of the food chain. Yes its a life, but it could be so much more.
Over and over every time we try to get a up their is some group that takes us down. The US border and the differences in prices is a huge problem. If we had a way to access there products it would save the average farmers 10s of thousands a year. If fert could be shipped back from the coast to major land facility example one in Alberta, Sask and Manitoba. Their farmers could go pick up and pay for their own products. get the middle man out of the equation. Also being able to bring back chemicals from the USA with little to no paper work would help with prices on that end.
Getting rid of the CWB would let us get what the world is really paying for products some $3.00 on HRS to $6.00 Durum.
The extra income would give farmers the ability to have little to no Operating debt that is the one main point that is helping all the above to walk over us. They know we need money every day and with our limited ability to generate cash from CWB grain sales etc they can control us.
Once all of the above change we will finally in control.
One can always dream! because most farmers this year will feel they are making good money and the gouging will continue.

I cannot understand how compliant farmers are.

Farmers have a skill set to die for; they network well; they are masters at working independently; they are the most productive sector imaginable; the wealth they create is "real" wealth and they create so much of it!; they are focused; they work when the work needs to be done; they are good citizens.

When feed companies bypass the CWB, with the CWB's blessing, making millions, why don't farmers demand to do the same?

When a CWB director is nominated as a political candidate, shouldn't the farm community bloody DEMAND his stepping down until the election is over with, because he has personal gain to be had from voting on CWB decisions?

When the CWB has yet to ever commission a study examining farmgate bottom lines on CWB grain, shouldn't there be a chorus of protests?

Are farm men so CWB-whipped, they are unable to conceive they could actually make/read/sign a malt contract with Canada Malt?

Is the D'Allen wrench turned so sharply in farmers' CWB psyche that they are bolted to the single-desk in perpetuity, thinking they do not have the ability to sell a single bushel of feed wheat to Nebraska?

Are farmers scared of .....er....ah....leaving home?

And Adam and Eve lived an idyllic life until that darned snake came along with that apple that they weren't supposed to eat...you know the one with the worm in it...the CWB. that destroyed their Garden of Eden and they have been impoverished ever since.

Nice story...too bad it is all made up, just like today's farmers blaming the CWB for every ill known to mankind.

The farming communities didn't support their UNIONS or their CO-OPs or their marketing organizations and let the leeches take everything...so WHO is to blame????? Independent thinkers alright but broke ones. Learn to work TOGETHER, join your Unions...and LEARN something.

Maybe it is not too late.

The CWB is your fantasy UNION! A union belonging to and run by CWB employees. You claim you love it, go ahead, you belong to it and support it, and enjoy it. Not me.

The rest of the farmers can't pay their bills with the crumbs the CWB throws to us every two years.

Velcro its guys like you that have no clue as to what is going on in the real world. You spew a line about Adam and Eve etc. Its a joke. Just like you wisdom on life itself. THE CWB IS NOT AND NEVER HAS MADE MONEY FOR CANADIAN FARMERS IT HAS TAKEN AND TAKEN AND TAKEN SINCE TIME BEGAN but if you like it you keep it the rest of us want out.

sf3 I am sure you are one of the 14% of western Canadian producers who do not want any CWB. Why don't you and your CANADIAN FARMERS FOR JUST ME friends move south of the boarder and let the other 86% of us decide how we want to run our businesses.

I disagree Stubbyjumper. SF3, keep the passion for this industry and the realization and hope to turn it back into a real business again with all the risk and reward afforded to almost every other business on the planet. With little risk comes little reward, and that is the trap we have been pushed into, not fallen into.

I for one vote for a non-socialist way of farming.

Saskboy, How can we all stand up together against the big wheels that are fleecing us, in a way that isn't pinko, stinko, commie, social, co-op corrupt, and still be a viable reliable group of individuals all working together for a common cause, ie lower fertilizer, chemical prices? The only idea that comes to mind at the moment, is to all hook our home pc's together reveal our penny pinching secrets to one another and form a collective bigger and meaner than the multinationals (the Borg?) conspiracy that is keeping us poor. But don't think it will work, cause in reality all framers hate one another and envy their land and the big iron they fram with! Am I right or am I right?

Stubble jumper for years I have had to listen to experts like you that spend most of their days sitting in local small town coffee shops hopping the big guy beside you will fail. You wail how poor his crop is etc. Then you go out at noon to seed your whopping 6 quarters. Yes you had a good life at farming but all I am asking for is a chance at the same thing. If I believe that We are getting screwed by the CWB let me and my acreage out. Its simple if you feel you don't need me then let me out, If I fail its my problem not yours. If I win and I am right with whats happening in Grain markets Don't be jealous when I succeed. But just let us out.
