    Grain Movement Issues

What is grain movement like in your region?

Was up in Peace River yesterday and many expressed their concern about canola movement. Priced contracts into from the fall and stick not called for. Back to Edmonton and sounds like delivery opportunities down here to coincide with the rally.

Will note again the proposed cash clearing house and the opportunity for firmer delivery commitments by both parties.

      Charlie,

In Edmonton, we are just moving our export barley that was supposed to move off the combine last fall. Hard white wheat is supposed to move the end of January.

Charlie, was in central Alberta yesterday and was told of a canola DDC contract specifying late Oct/early Nov delivery that hasn't been accepted for delivery yet! I'm hoping to see a copy of the contract so I can see what the fine print says. According to the producer, the contract specifies that he must deliver in the delivery period if called by the grianco but the grainco isn't compelled to take delivery during that period.

        Anyone else having that experience?

Viterra the main culprit in my area for not taking delivery on time. I am refusing to sell into the CWB's minimum price feed wheat contract that they have. They say first week of Febuary, what if its mid may?

Charlie, I had the same thing happen a few years back, December delivery canola that they finally took the next June. Needless to say, it didn't help the cash flow much.

By February, I was reading fine print pretty closely, only to realize that there wasn't much I could do about it. Big penalties if it would have been me not delivering, but nothing on the flipside.

On the upside though, if I ever sign with that company again, I know the places to scratch out this time.

              Ranger,

Scratch out the phrase/word/sentence you don't want and initial them. Ask the company to initial them as well.

Contracts ..TEND THEM WELL. Dot your i's and cross your t's.

                FarmRanger,

Somebody needs to put a contract out on CashPlus.

                  Parsley,

The real issue here is the CWB has lost the confidence of "designated area" grain growers... the PPO contracts are theft instruments... and "Cash Minus" is just another example of this.

When BNN starts hyping Viterra shares... cause the CWB is finished... you must know the end is near!

Just phone and ask if they will take in some spot Canola to see how badly they really want to take delivery on those contracts.

Our basis here is horrible, but they will take ours in a minute while our neighbors are waiting to deliver Nov. contracts.
