Grain World is when new pro's come out

re: barley they will push the new cash plus program even though.
All they have is the support of some 38% of the "farmers" who voted not
no support from 14% of farmers who want the CWB out all togeather
48% who want marketing choice. Totals 62%
Ritz and Harper say they are onside
Maltsers don't want any part of new program
Western grain elevator association is out.
ICE (International Commodity Exchange) says it wont work
Why price malt against feed in Saskatoon?
Sounds like consensus to me get the CWB out of Barley then wheat in 09

Ron are you hiding out from the weather as well?

Won't start a new thread but wondering if anyone sat in on Michael Brophy's presentation on the cash plus program at CWB seminar, Crop Production Days last Friday? Comments?

My neighbor attended and said that they are playing the old smoke and mirrors game again and only the people who don't grow any malt barley thought it was good.

I attended and it was a reasonably good talk. Brophy described the program as best he could given the fact that all details are not finalized.
He showed the proposed contract and went over that in some detail. He empasized that the contract was between the farmer, the maltser and the CWB. They are promoting it on the strength that the farmer can negotiate with the maltster while benifiting from the clout of the single desk.
As I recall there were only a couple of relevent comments. One farmer from Gull Lake said this program would not do anything for barley production in his area. Another compared the US price with the suggested guaranteed price the CWB was offering. ($5.00-5.75). There was no fireworks.
A neighbour of mine was there and said it still looked a lot like the current system.
