Ontario Dual Market Pool results on HRS HRW Wheat SUPERIOR to CWB

    Charlie,

Here is the 2007 pool result for Ontario, hardly a month after the CWB finalised the "designated area" Oct 07 pool wht payments:

Interim payments are $30 /t for Pool C #2hard red spring and Pool D #2hard red spring, bringing total payments to date to $304.59 for Pool C and $303.70 /t for Pool D after another $11.65/t. and $14.51/t. respectively, estimated final payments.

Interim payments are $10 /t for Pool B #2hard red winter wheat, bringing HRW to $241.74 /t. after another $11.04/t. estimated final.

The Quality Spec. on the Ontario Eastern 2HRS is close to a #3CWRS with no protein.

CWB payments for the pool closed in October 07 were:
    On #3CWRS $196/t; #4CWRS $182.79/t.

    On #2Hard Red Winter $183.29; 2CPSR $185.90/t.

Since CWB payments are In Vancouver or St Lawrence... they are in Ocean bulk position, where Ontario prices are MUCH closer to farm gate pricing.

The performance of the Ontario Board, in a dual market; is obviously vastly superior to the CWB under the "single desk.

    My my. Efficiency is scarey.

At the very least, Dr. Richard Gray from the U of S, or some Ag Economist from the U of S should have been paid, by Ontario farmers, to do a lengthy intense study before the results of the Ontario 2007 Pool were released.

      Kevin Hursh states:

" Agricultural economist Ken Rosaasen has done some work to compare the price of wheat to the price of oil. From 1961 to 1970, the price of oil was static at about $1.80 per barrel. Based on the quality of wheat produced in Saskatchewan during that 10-year period, the average price received by farmers was $1.58 a bushel"

I can't imagine who paid Rosaasen to do this study. Does anyone know?

        Parsley,

If you were short wheat... that would be a very scary thought!

This market is messing up grain co's big time. Margins are burning up lines of credit like a hot summer bon-fire!

I sure hope the CWB is long and not short!

If they are short... we will find out this PRO? Obviously they should be long this early in the pool year!

Do you think they could bluff this... they said CWB deliveries would be 90% complete by the end of May... what about pricing?... not a word on that...

        Hang on to your hat!

Could be a wild ride down at the OK Corral on the 29th of Jan!

If they are short, who will they blame?
          Pick one.

          1. Global Warming doubters

          2. Anne Coulter

          3. Big Bad Multinationals

          4. Railways

          5. Designated Area Farmers

The bigger issue, Tom4CWB, is, who will pay for colossal stupidity?

            Parsley,

            That was a silly question!

Who always pays for everything the CWB does!

Paying isn't always handing over cash, Tom4CWB.

Sometimes you pay by handing over your job.

I didn't say who pays for colossal stupidity.

                SO...In the first instance

                Farmers pay....

                in the second

                The CWB pays.

Isn't it time the CWB pays?
