Normally, I'm a big fan of reducing government involvement in business, but...
For years, the CGC has been publishing weekly stats about elevator stocks, deliveries, exports and lots of other stuff. Now they are planning to cut in half and report only every two weeks. I know lots of people who depend on weekly data to help make time-sensitive selling decisions.
It may not seem like a big deal, but having up-to-date info can be really helpful in looking at what might be happening to basis levels and cash prices.
The CGC is asking people to respond by March 20 to the proposed change. I would encourage people who are interested in maintaining market transparency to go to the following web page and making their voice heard.
