    wheat carry over

    Charlie,
I attended the CWB meeting today in Legal Alberta. There was a question asked about the carryover of wheat from one year to the next and I cannot remember the number of tonnes carried over but it seemed very high to me.
Does the carry over seem reasonable to you? It seems we can bring the canola carryout on a good year down to less than a million tonnes what is the difference in wheat?

As a general comment, If the CWB is going to hold everyone captive it would seem reasonable they should have to clearly show the benifits that everyone attains through that system. I would say that they made no effort to do this in any way today.

    Briant,

I saw a story 2 days ago... I believe it was on DTN breifly.... looked to find it again and could not... that the CWB was going to do everything possible to reduce carry over stocks.

Strange that I could not find it in the CWB press releases... on on the Website.

Does anyone else have a copy of that article?

My memory puts the forecast carryover at just under 5 MMT both this year and next. This information is likely on the CWB website/Grain World.

My forecast all wheat carryover is about 4.1 MMT or a stocks use of 18 % versus canola at 12 % and a stocks use of 12 %.

Don't bother looking at the CWB web site. There are no presentations from Grainworld. Last year, they posted all of the presentations except their own wheat and barley outlooks. Hmm, love that transparency. So unless you were there and were really quick at taking notes, you are out of luck. I was there, but not quick enough with my pen. Sorry.

Oops. Missed Lee's post earlier. Noticed though that it's heavy on charts and light on numbers.

Zaphod, I've come to the conclusion that anyone attending an outlook conference should take along one of those little digital recorders. Mine will record up to 30 hours without changing the memory stick. Wouldn't you know it, I forgot mine for Grain World!!!!!!!!!!
