This Bill is another example of Klein's interference to appease a small number of producers. It is just another waste of time and money. I am sure the powers that be will listen politely to our Ag Minister and then dismiss the whole issue as 'Kleinagin' politics.

    Humbug...

        Vader:

Glad to see the "misinformation" of the Winnipeg stasni is being kept up.Your PRO backed off to central Saskatchewan is what? How Much? Payment made when?

If my cash price [farmer paid in < 10 days] stinks go to another mill. There are 11 in Ontario and they all use some western wheat.

The staus quo monopsony in the DA only offers one price for human consumption. Please explain to your captive market how this benefits their efforts to build a business and low and behold make a decent profit so the bandits in Ottawa can collect more tax from their sweat.

I'll make a prediction as to how far the Alberta government will get with this bill: the Liberals will either completely ignore it or stonewall any attempt at negotiation, just as they have stonewalled serious questions about the wheat board. I hate to rain on the parade, but I think that this bill is a symbolic gesture at best.

and if the bill falters, you step forward and pick up the torch and carry it forward until you accomplish the task.
Freedom comes not to the weak but to the strong. Farmers have already gone to jail over this, this sacrifice should not be in vain.

              Eatmorewheat,

Tell us the truth. The reason you post on here is to con farmers out of their wheat for less money. What are you paying the CWB right now for wheat and what would you be willing to pay farmers if you bought the same wheat directly from them. Then tell me how that scenario would help farmers.

What evidence is there that domestic processors would pay less in a more open/price transparent market that they do with the CWB pricing system today?

In looking a how the pooling system works today, the CWB does business with customers ranging from high priced/quality conscious ones to low priced markets where our competition is Europe (both EU and eastern Europe), Argentina and former Soviet Union. Perhaps what might happen is the prices for the higher end markets and the domestic market comes down (could be). What gets kicked out of the system is sales to markets at extremely low values. The end result is the same price for grain farmers and more value added in Canada.

The CWB other claims to fame is price averaging (selling all year) and getting premiums by being aggressive merchandizers. What does the CWB do to manage price risk both for the pricing pools and for individual managers that participate in the pool?

                  Vader,

You obviously view the mills and the value adders as enemies that are out to do a number on you. I view them as potential business partners.

Business partnerships work a little like marriage, vader. There has to be a recognition and appreciation of the other partner's value. If the mill gets unreasonable, the farmer grows an alternate crop or sells to another miller. If the farmer gets too unreasonable, the mill buys from another farmer or goes out of business.

I regret you obviously do not respect the value added end of business nor do you view them as a potential partner enabling everyone to create greater wealth.

Vader; the only true con and rip off artists in the western cdn wheat trade is the cwb. Under your glorious, socialist sytem farmers are trapped under an oppressive monopsony. A true def'n of a monopsony says that the price of the good falls to the cost of prod'n.

Like I said if my cash price is low, move on.Ontario farmers seem to benefit from my cash price and choice.CHOICE is the def'n of freedom!Lack of choice leads to decay and decline.

Socialism in wheat gives you what the western wheat industry is today. By the way how's Sask Wheat pool doing?

Just checking knowledge of how the CWB pricing pools works. I am a domestic mill and am wanting to sell flour to a international market in competition with subsidized European product. What price will the CWB sell wheat to me for?
