    Fear

After attending the meeting in Weyburn I am some what disapionted in the lack of fight in those in attendance. How much of a price differencial does there need to be before people are willing to put up a fight. When Andy started this fight it was a $2 spread, Andy spent 155 days in jail. When the 13 AB farmers went there was a $1 spread and some spent 1 day in jail. THE SPREAD IS NOW IN EXCESS OF $10 AND NOT ONE IS WILLING TO GET AS MUCH AS A PARKING TICKET.
Next time we have a meeting COWARDS STAY HOME.

The possibility of a criminal record can be more more costly than the worth of all the wheat in the world. There are many who didn't attend Weyburn; but used that same time slot; in other ways; to encourage change. Those people are not cowards in my book.

The 13 in AB have no criminal records from the time spent on customs charges.
Maybe we should write a letter

From what I gathered from the action plan put together in the meeting after the meeting, no one has to go to jail.

Just a co-ordinated effort to put on pressure at a critical time in a legal manner.

How many of the grain handlers at the West Coast go to jail?

        0.

Do you hear about them when they are dissatisfied?

        Yup.

Are grainhgandlers often effective in getting more money?

        Yes.

        Does someone suffer and complain?

Farmers always suffer the consequences when grainhandlers want more money. And they complain.

Farmers cannot strike. But they can do other things.

The bill that is on the table will go nowhere is the feeling. Wheat is off the table. Where did it go, and who fought to keep it there? Farm groups will bankrupt themselves flying to Ottawa, having duobluet with Dion and Easter only drinks potato tea.

The Liberals will not listen to choice farmers, but they will respond to dissatisfied potential voters.

Some people cannot stand up and be counted. Sometimes, it is becasue they want to run for politics, themselves, and do not want to appear as if they disagree with any potential voter. They leave it up to someone else to negotiate/argue/confront.

Their tactics only entertain behind closed door methods.

All of us are very different in our approaches, our skills, our ideas, our results.

        Diverse.

No one is right and no one is wrong. If we both want the same thing, each of us has something to contribute in our own way.

Maybe we can help EACH OTHER, if we can keep our goals in the forefront.
That's the important part. So many that attended, ARE very eager to move forward.

We're on the same team, we just like using a different bat.

For me, personally, whether it takes buying another new pen, or practicing my UFO training at a farm meeting, lol, or having tea with a Senator, yawn, or gawd forbid, or ice fishing with agstar, oops, ... all are just fine.

        Whatever works.

        Remember....it's all about ideas.

Good point. But what about being fingerprinted. They ask that question nearly everytime a person crosses to go to another country. They also frequently ask if you've been arrested.
There are lots of ways to attempt to make changes. A part of freedom is the right to choose which methods a person chooses to use to use (if any at all). We all need all the support we can get. No one gets gains extra support by deliberately driving potential supporters away.

I was at your rally, it was encouraging to see a this many people showed up. The only problem is that most farmers dont see themselves as law breakers. This soon overtook your meeting and we were more woried about actions than words, if you noticed as soon as you started talking disruption, half the people left. It ended up with a few people left making big plans for everyone. You should know that most of these people won't come to your meeting next time because you made it divisive. When you started saying if you "DONT DO THIS GO HOME" you lost my support, it was rude and offencive. I am a farmer just like you and I have written more letters and phoned more polititions than most, so don't say I am not helping the cause. Action without words is worse than doing nothing at all plus you loose the support of the public. How many people do you know feel sorry for someone blocking their way to prove a point. You loose a supporter and you look like an idiot and that paints all farmers with the same brush. I will keep fighting for market freedom and I don't think it will be just one approch that wins this fight.

How many times do I have to say No Criminal Record, you are only finger printed for criminal offences, they were not charged with a criminal offence, but had summary covictions,
like a speeding ticket. When charged with a criminal offence you have a choice of judge or jury. Do you think it would be possible to find 12 people that could understand how we could even be charged.

There were other ideas. Witholding your money from political donations.

You can do that, for sure.

                Writing letters.
Did it work well for you?

                Radio ads.

                Great.

Spend the money and ask , "Does it work?"

I think it will over time.

                Over 10 years, for sure.

Quebec and Ontario farmers caused disruption at the legislature.

                Did it work?
                You bet.

Some people are scared, and I understand that. The East would NEVER put up with what Western farmers put up with.

                NEVER.

It is fear. Fear of looking dumb, fear of fighting for what is yours. Fear of confrontation. It is much easier to give half the pizza to the bully every day.

                It is what it is.

Single desk here or gone isn't going to make a major difference in MY life, right at this time. But it will in the life of all the young guys attending.

That's why I have not given up.

Throughout, and at the end of the day breadwinner, nobody advocated crossing/running the border. Or getting fines for doing so. Or going to jai. Or getting fingerprinted.

It was not suggested to do so.

checking, do you think the SGEU employees get fingerprinted for picketing?

                    Good grief.

People can make their point without getting fingerprinted.

                    Farmers can, too

I have to make one mor post before I head out to Regina for the day.

Please tell me that farmers did not attend a Farmers for Justice meeting hoping to be encouraged to participate in a letter writing campaign!

                      LOL LOL LOL

                      That is so funny.

If farmers cannot even stand up to voice disagreement with the suggestions that meet their disapproval, but instead decide they would sooner slide out the door than be heard, it says it all.

                      LOL

I honestly thought that at some time, farmers would tire of getting a financial beating.

                      Jeez, they enjoy it!

Welcome to the world of cows.
                      LOL LOL LOL

Conspiracy to commit crimes. New innovative concept! Desperate times indeed. High prices, low interest rates. New Ag programs on the way. Yeah its tough on the farm these days!!!!

Don't forget it's all about freedom, not profits or making a fair living or willing to work co-operatively with fellow producers. It's all about confrontation and headlines and critizing people who are trying to do there best and getting nothing but scorn. Just keep throwing stones but remember you live in a glass house.
