Historicaly commodities are the last thing to peak before a depression. They are percieved as a hedge against inflation and realitively safe compaired to equities. The trouble with this mind frame is that all this investment in commodities (raw goods) is the very thing that fuels inflation. check out www.hsdent.com. This site is full of historic trends, some back to the times of the greeks.

Interesting ideas. It may be that gold is the only thing that weathers the crash. Even oil will likely come down. How many summer vacations will get scaled back because of high gas prices?
