Bottom line is that the existence of psychopathic killers are a statistical inevitability. No matter how many laws we pass or how many people we incarcerate, every once in a while one of these nuts will get their hands on some type of weapon and use it to kill people. The alternative is to turn society into a vast system of armed camps and wrap everyone in cotton batten, in a vain attempt to protect everyone from every conceivable hazard. Not remotely worth the price, IMHO. Life is full of risks; what we need is the freedom to allow individuals to deal with these risks appropriately.

Also, do we need CNN sensationalizing
      the events, hours(days) and hours(days)
of coverage. Why do these shootings
seem to happening more than ever before
that is the question that needs
answering. Is there stats on this type
of event dating back 50 years and how do
      they compare?

You can't fix it with out fixing the
root problem and what is it?

        Liberty,

Like a ride in a Greyhound bus... wasn't it a hunting
knife that someone lost their head over? We need
controls on axes and knives as well...

And oh yes... chainsaws while we are at it!
How about cars and pickup trucks... that kill millions...
How about outlawing booze while we are at it.

Evil voices do cause destruction. Make them illegal.
        How about aborting babies .

Soooo we make the Lords Prayer and 10
Commandments illegal instead, and wonder why we
        have a problem...

Now I am politically incorrect and 'evil' for bringing up
these problems. And anyone wonders Why this
        happened?

While we are at it ban the bible and the koran for all the violence, they can't be good for unstable minds.

              Agsatar77,

So EXACTLY where is there violence in the 10 commandments or the Lords Prayer?

And Jesus saying turn the other cheek or carry the coat 10 times what was asked...
Or the Samaritan looking after the guy who was mugged; and paying the inn keeper till he had been all healed up?

              Cheers!

Well Tom, I have read the Bible from cover to cover and man oh man, there is one pile of violence in that book. Smiting seems to be a regular pastime for God as well.

Blame whomever and whatever you please, the reality is we need more focus in society on mental illness and education on mental wellness.

The weapon of choice is always in someones hands.

It was decided long ago by the clergy that existed in savage times, and participated in savagery against those who didn't see it their way, or even if they did, but were in their way, that to control the public the bible teachings were A) their domain and B) had to be dumbed down because it was even more violent with its hell and damnation content than that which the public was confronted with in day to day living.

Separation of the church and the state is a good thing. I worry more about the sane religious state zealots than any mental problems that can gain access to weapons.

I suggest that Herod didn't know what a gun was.

Also suggest that the Iroquois had a solution for the Jesuits. It wasn't an invitation to potluck supper.

                                Checking,

Herod had an army... backed by the Romans.

                                Jesus said; "I never knew you'...Matthew 7:

"22On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

A tree and its Fruits; Matthew 7:15...18-20

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

HEY It's Christmas... cut me some slack Please... Checking...
