    smart phone

My contract is coming up and i will upgrade my
    smart phone.

I have had the samsung galaxy S1 for the last 3
years and a blackberry curve before that.

I am not too happy with the S1 as the battery
sucks. Pretty much have to take the charger
    with me everywhere i go.

I dont like the way copy and paste works on my
    S1.

My wife has a I phone and likes but I am more
    familiar with the Samsung.

    Is the S3 much better?

I was also thinking of the samsung note but it is
    so big.

Some days i think it would be best to get just a
basic cell phone and have a tablet to carry
    around.

For what it is worth, I like my blackberry torch/playbook combination. Also curse batery life on the blackberry phone (playbook not bad given screen size). Still can't figure out what I have running that sucks up so much battery capacity (running without the data link close to triples battery life).

New BB operating system will be interesting although I am not a techie. There are only two types of phones: ones that work/do what I want to do and those that don't.

I've had an S3 for 3 or 4 months now. I have yet to regret buying it. Got rid of a BB Curve (and was happy to be shy of it)

There was a few things i liked about the bb
curve was the spell check and it worked great
        for cut and pasting.

I had a lot of trouble with the trackball and key
        pad on my curve.

Any body have the samsung note 2?

It looks pretty big to cary around. It would not
even fit in a pocket by the looks of it.

Get an I5 jag. Have never been happier to get rid of the samsung galaxies. The apps suck, the battery life sucks, had to pull battery out on many occassions to reboot. The iphone is flawless. Way more and better apps. Email is flawless and way better for surfing the net thru safari. Have 3 on the go now linked thru I Cloud for file sharing, music, calendars etc. Tried Siri for texting yesterday and works flawless. Have never had a single problem with an apple product. Cant say the same thing about samsung. Now bought a $3000 smart tv from samsung and their wifi doesnt work properly and they have no fix nor do they care to admit its their problem. You want problem free buy apple. You want to boycott and have a crap product buy something else.

I should add Jag that if your wife has an I phone, I think you would be nuts to not want to have the same for the ability to share seamlessly through I cloud. As far as being more familiar with the galaxy, it is no big deal to get onto the iphone. You would not regret the short term learning pain for the long term gain.

              I have a playbook/9900 combination and
am very happy with it. But I'm eagerly
waiting to see what BB10 is like in a
              month or so.
A friend has a galaxy note and in my
opinion its to big to be a phone and to
small to be a tablet. But he likes it
(not a power user of either).

I just got my first iPhone and it is an awesome
device. Some of the others may be as we'll but I
don't think you can go wrong with an iphone5.
                IMHO

I too just got an I5.

Happy with battery time... pictures... sync my contacts
through g-mail(this can be an issue for droid
conversion). New Bell contract was $65/month with
unlimited local and CDN long distance with 1mb of
                  web time.

Texting works well... the pics are really good.

Went with Macbook to sync with... but looks like
windowsPC will sync OK as well if someone knows
                  how.

Are family are Android/pc folks... so I have taken much
                  'forbidden fruit' guff!

Anything will work... if we choose to make it work!

                  Cheers!

ALL of the Canadian CELL phone companies are crooked snakes so opted for the cheapest one available at $15 a month. Only need an emergency phone for travelling in the winter months. Not many minutes per month but enough for my needs.

If I WIN an IPad I won't turn it down but my $1000 computer will do all that I want to do for now.

Hahaha tom forbidden fruit... I felt awfully dirty
and ashamed when i got my first i4. Swore i
would never fall victim to apple. Nearly ready to
flip 2 laptops to mac books as well. The synching
with email works very well as u said tom. Wilagro
your obviously not using the capability of a smart
phone so ya i agree with your statement of getting
                      a cheap piece of shit.

S3 is my first. It takes a lot of surfing to drain
battery. Have it and computer synched with
Dropbox. Works well. Agree that in a way they are
too small for a computer and too awkward for use
as just a telephone. I suppose it saves dragging a
                        tablet around all day.
Didn't want to spend big on Mac. However,
knowing what I know now, I'm on computer a lot
less anyway. If had tablet would hardly ever open
                        laptop.
Have aircard for laptop, and S3, bill is $160 -$220
                        per month. Sucks.
If I was as old as wilagro, maybe I wouldn't bother
                        either.

Ouch, thats a pile for the aircard/phone combo. You should be able to tether your phone to use as a wife hotspot for your laptop and get rid of your aircard? I did just that with my blackberry a year ago, it was cheaper to pay out my aircard and tether with my phone using my phones data plan.

Hey there T4, Happy New Year!! Pleased you are happy with your new Christmas present!! The Mac product seems to work well!!
Just as an FYI was at a friends place who has seven doors and several independently switched banks of lights on his new shop. His installer built him an app that controls all indvidually from his Iphone. It saves ALL the assorted remotes.
With a smartphone connection he can monitor temp/power etc from anywhere in the world.
                              Tech is quite astounding !!
