I accept most of your points except that there is:
1. Nothing wrong with Gretzky "selling" conservative investments and being paid by TD. He didn't lie about comments regarding his father and his son. GIC's give a return below inflation but are the most safe for those that want 100% protection.
2. His "conservative" point about being on top of things, saving money and not letting someone else make all the decisions is valid. Many hockey players used consultants that screwed them into the ground..Bob Bourne, Brian Trotier.
