Myself was GM half ton all my life. Lately in 2010 bought a Ford half ton. Then in spring 2012 bought a Ford 350 with intent to buy a 5th wheel camper trailer. Kinda thought the ford was a better ride at the time, ford is not bad, just before I was to put the 5th wheel hitch on I found myself having issues with my ford 350 like steering in 4wheel drive had some conflict. Automatic locking hubs not working in cold weather. Less traction generally in snow. Just thought the Ford would not be a good truck to try parking a camper trailer in hard to get places and towing in icy conditions. Took a test drive and the Chev seems to drive nice somehow seems to have better handling and traction in snow. Stabilitrak. Onstar and touch screen navigation will at least work the same as other new truck. What are others finding.

I have a chev 2500HD and a Dodge 2500
cummins. I prefer the chev for trim level and the
duramax engine/transmission combination is
excellent. Then again, the Cummins diesel is an
excellent engine. Both are very strong. Both are
very stiff. I find they are both choppy/bouncy
empty. Both an Excellent ride if you have a pallet
of seed or a 5th wheel camper on the back.
We always drove Chev around here so, brand
loyalty would say the duramax wins by a very
small margin.

I would say both trucks are not the best in snow
due to heavy Diesel engine in front. Add that
weight to the back and you really have good
trucks. They are both 2005. I buy them used. Now
the Chev has 265,000km and the Dodge has
145,000km. The chev is a little easier to drive.
The Dodge steering is very responsive/jerky. A
person adjusts to that stuff within an hour so not a
big deal.

this is almost as good as a John Deeres the best thread. Have had them all. Hands down in my opinion if your going to pull something large its the new Ford with the 6.7 diesel, awesome motor and good on fuel. If I was only pulling toys around I think I would buy a GM. Argue if you like but the proof is and always has been in the GV rating. My pops 5th wheel could only be pulled legally by a ford or he had to go to a dually gm for same weight. I think gm has upped their GV ratings in the last couple years to stay in the game.

Around here all the Socialists drive Ford's, a Dodge
is for motorheads, and a Chevy impresses the
ladies.
A dodge neighbour told me if it ain't rough it ain't
fun! Well I agree, but in the sack not on the roads.
So ya I have a dirtymax and love it. If your wife is
happy your happy. I manned it up with a leveling kit,
bushwackers, sticky outty tires and ripped off all the
no good do gooder shit on it. That was my
Christmas present from my wifey. New pipe from
manifold to tip, and ripped off the DPF, and EGR
delete, with the computer to get rid of the codes, and
have 4 different power setting now. Economy gets
22 on winter diesel now as opposed to 17 on winter
before. And in the performance it is over 500 hp.
(ONLY GOOD FOR SHORT BURSTS, THE PYRO GOES
CRAZY AND THE FUEL RAIL DOESN'T AGREE WITH
THE NEED FOR PRESSURE TO FUEL THE BEAST AT
THAT.)

Went from Chev 2500 gas to Duramax/ Allison LTZ HD in 2011. Great power and tranny. Quiet well laid out interior.
A perfect 5th wheel towing truck. With the hitch weight rides great, doesn't even feel the trailer. 12-15 mpg towing, 18 to 25 empty, all at 105kph. 8000 km till it asked for DEF.
