    Hrs and Canola usage

Any ideas as to how much canola and hrs
has been used to date and sites to find
    this information. Thx

I can give you my approach/the numbers I use.

Using canola, total supplies this year are about 14.1 MMT (800,000 carryin and 13.3 production). Some will argue with the numbers but the best available.

From there I use the grain statistics weekly (link below). To week 23 (5 months of the crop year), canola deliveries were just 7 MMT or about 50 % of supplies. The remaining 7 MMT has to be allocated over the next 7 months with the caveat July 31 carryovers never go to zero. You can also look at elevator/terminal stocks to see how tight they are and exports/domestic use (crush in the case of canola).

Wheat is more difficult in that CGC doesn't collect information on on farm feed use or deliveries to non CGC licensed facilties (eg. feedlots/feed mills). Grain stocks reports/surveys provide an indication. The next Canadian grain stocks report (December 31) will be released on Feb. 5.
