Arsg I get your point, it's bigger than the stupid
NDP.
But guys like you see short term gain where you
sell today for pennies and miss the fact that the
next generation of farmers are done.
Me myself and I.
Their is one way to stop this quit renting from
these land companies. Simple without us their
done, oh wait till the govt allows foreign
employees to work these farms because they
can't find qualified workers.

Actually in Canada land tenure is granted by the crown, therefore you don't own your land the crown does. Secondly free country? Come on if it was a free country I would be free to come and take your land, and you would be free to attempt to defend it. Third it's not a free market, especially when it comes to money I'll gotten by essentially stealing from the citizens , from a country that has not allowed it's currency to be valued according to its economy and discovered by a market. Nearly every war in history has been fought for resources, be it food, labor, raw material, even just space, etc. If you're too stupid to realize that when governments invest in another countries base resource it is for one purpose and one purpose only. So asrg if you can't pull your head out of your arse and enough others feel the same as you, I hope that you live long enough to have to learn Cantonese.

Boy a lot of emotion on this one. I have a comment
and a question. 1. when was it ever easy for a
young farmer or a wannabe farmer to get into the
game? Even if you found land to rent, the cost of
machinery was a killer and I'm talking the last forty
years. 2. Do we know for sure this is the Chinese
Government or just some rich individual Chinese.
I've met a few of those who have come here to kick
tires . And not just Chinese, many from India as
well. There are many rich individuals in both those
countries, don't bias your thinking on stereotypes.
Finally, Harper has been furiously buzzy building
his legacy by fast tracking free trade agreements
everywhere and anywhere. Saskfarmer 3, maybe
your bottom 40, or in your case, bottom 4,000 was
part of the deal. I wouldn't expect the Govt to give a
shit! As a Deputy Ag Minister once told me - "the
land will always be farmed, it doesn't matter to us
by who". That was in reference to the Hoots back in
the 80's.

Just a wild thought to throw out there.... how about
instead of not being able to purchase until you've been
a citizen for 10 years, you can buy as much as you
want but you can't SELL it for that 10 years? So
anybody can invest in the land so long as they're in it
for the medium-long term intending to a) farm it or b)
have it farmed rather than just hoping to flip it.

A vote on selling farmland? Sure let's let
landowners each vote everyday. If they vote yes
they can sell- no and they don't sell. If they say no
today maybe they can change their vote if the
offer goes up tomorrow. Farmland is in a bubble
instead of getting so worked up invest in
something else in the mean time. In a couple of
years investors will find out that overpaying for
land means they will never get above the cost of
capital and move on (sell) which will depress the
price for your kids to buy again. Are we not all
capitalists? I get tired of so called capitalists who
when the market moves against them there first
instinct is to bring the government in to "make
things fair"

I'm of the boomer generation and I can't defend what we have left for your's. Take the torch young friend. You've got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. Our fathers fell for modernity and we fell for the Beatles.
