Well Burbs, anywhere I,ve been that has a good tourist industry has lifted the local economy way higher than their govt could. 1.2 million tourists a year to Aruba, it's all they do and they live well because of it. A 5 dollar tip equals their daily wage in some parts of Mexico. As tourists, we have given them a hand up, and it is all new money for their economy. So travel some Burbs and share the love....

Nothing against my back yard but have
seen lots of the world this winter.
Once the combines were parked we spent a
week in Times Square so momma could get
her shopping fix. Sure glad we beat
Sandy. Then did some golfing, biking
and hiking in Arizona. Our youngest is
going to school in Germany so we spent
Christmas there drinking beer and eating
wiener schnitzel). New Year's in Prague
was interesting. Now were soaking up
the sun north of Puerto Vallarta. Each
spot has its own special uniqueness.
Hope to get some sledding in the
mountains in March. Still haven't found
shangri-la yet, but going to keep
looking. Very thankful to be blessed by
making a living on the prairies though.
I wasn't very impressed with Hawaii but
then I only saw Oahu. Napa Valley area
in the fall ranks up there pretty high
for me so far. You can have a great
time anywhere if you're with the right
crowd.

Saskfarmer if you want a laid back holiday leave Gran Cayman and go to Cayman Brac, very quiet, no traffic, no traffic lights and no crime.

I read a lot about it and would like to see it in the time were their.
But is flying the only way from the Cayman to get their or can you go by boat.
Their is a island that is just swimming distance from shore that looks awesome.

The twin otter costs about $60 for a 40 minute trip. I don't think theres a boat. There is a fairy starting up between the Brac and little cayman

By the way , the island your seeing is Little cayman population 150. When you really want to escape go there but take alot of reading.

You were down in Cancun a few years back when I was down their if I recall.

Over all what was your impression of the Cayman.
Seems three weeks may be a little long since its such a small island.
Oh well we will know in a few hours.

Only in Cancun once in 1982, just when it was starting to 'boom' we only had a room there and the rest of the time we were in a rented car looking at mayan ruins or over at Cozumel(when it had only 2 hotels !)
I wasn't in Grand Cayman other than the airport but judging by the airport prices it is expensive.
I really like Cayman Brac we were there for 16 days in a rented house. If your into hitting nite clubs then Don't go here.
Weather is hot 90 during day down to 75 at nite.
Find shade,read,read some more and then dive or snorkel, talk to the local fishing on shore. Friendly,friendly people and no one trying to sell you something.
Hurricanes have defined this island, go to the museum very interesting, go to the caves where people hid out during 30 foot waves hitting the shore,check out the parrots up on the Brac. Search for caymanite on the eastern cliffs.

I have always been a contrarian. I don't support all inclusives as 80% of the money leaves the host Country. And the only Locals you meet are the ones cleaning your room.
Travelling broadens the mind ,the amount you're doing saskfarmer you'll be voting Ndp the next election lol

Burpfart I did spend it in Canada bought a 4940
sprayer last week.
Mustard were in condos, way better than all
inclusive. With a large group it's fun.
Waiting between flights 3 hrs to go.
