    Technology and Society

Is anyone like me and think how the fk did it all
    change so fast?

Everyone spending more time starring into their
    phone than doing anything else?

    Internet,gps,facebook,texting,skyping,interact and on
    and on and on.

I always think of the story of the chinese general
when asked about the effects of the first world war
his response was"don't know,to soon to tell".

Anybody have an opinion on where we are heading?

Anybody read any good authors on the subject?

      Well... CP....

There is plan 'A'.... "Do the best you can with what you
      have"...

And then when someone says... "Time is up"... well
that is the time when plan 'B' kicks in.

One Appointment not one of us will miss... is death.

There are endless versions of this book on the
internet... it is the best seller of all time! IF you avoid
reading this book... you avoid it at your peril. The
Chapter written by John... is usually the best
      introduction to it.

      Cheers!

Glen Beck's Agenda 21 is a rather interesting
fictional futuristic peek. But read it before one
angry finger in some unknown hot tent
disintegrates Shand on a forty below nIght and a

Every one of the technologies has an off switch. You could try using them to quieten your life, but then your response would be to *f*off.

The one thing everyone should do is to send a cheer out to Tom. I think he has been frequenting too many Alberta-British pubs.

....a bunch of social misfits who live
in a fantasy world that have no face to
            face interpersonal skills, can barely
spell and don't like work. They will be
fine until what the previous generations
accumulated and provided for them runs
            out.
Who here wouldn't like to get off the
technology treadmill and get back to the
            basics/simpler times? I can make
technology part of my life but I don't
want it to rule it. I guess I have to
realize when it stops adding value to
aspects of my life, it is no longer
            needed.

Dr. Suzuki is not a dummy as you seem to think. He has some good advice for Canadians regarding the paving over of our good farm land.

                    Farmaholic,

At this point we can feed ourselves... and don't have
drones targeting our country. We can still speak freely
                    about our faith.

Therefore other than defending my 'neighbour' who is
defenceless... my political projects have diminished.

                    Cheers

I'll check that book out, notice the price tag at the
                      top,lol.

Checking, its not really about one person, its about the
whole herd of humans going through a huge
paradigm shift in a short amount of time.

Maybe its not worth thinking about or maybe there
                      are serious consequences,or benefits,i don't know.

Don't venture near a "black hole". It is the ultimate squeeze play that you seem to be pondering.

parts 12 to 15 thousand tonne wheat and
about 4 to 6000 tonne canola didnt until

computer, relied on his wife to read
daily faxes and his bank which he is
always in credit to advise him on the

massive on farm storage and cash sales

I am a strong believer in self
sufficiency and bucking the techno trend
as many on here know. How many of us
anymore could feed ourselves when things
go south? I figure a precious few. I am
                              learning "new" old skills like
                              gardening, hog raising, milk production,
right along with the new technologies
that do nothing to grow, store, and live
                              off of my own food.

I love this bucking the trend! I am 36
years old, and I am getting a milking
goat (maybe two) soon, to save us about
3000 bucks a year in milk and cheese,
and give us 100 pounds of great meat.
All at a cost of about 20 cents a day
for feed. And the cost of not going away
and spending two weeks in Oahu or las
Vegas. For shame, my kids will have a
goat, chickens, pigs, horses, sheep, and
a garden to learn to take care of, while
their peers, yes even on most farms
today, sit there like zombies staring at
                              the latest gadget.

Yup, I'm bucking the trend and loving
it. Loving my 2007 flip phone too, my
1993 tractor that is steered with my
                              arms, and my wrenches.

LOL! Loving it!!!! Loving life. The more
I go "backwards", the more I realize I
have been missing in life. Thankfully my
wife is awesome and "gets it".

The one thing I am missing out on, is I
have no neighbors, no friends who "get
it". They are after more things.
Electronic schtuff that makes you lazy
and non-self sufficient. You can't raise
a hog with a blinking I phone or
whatever they are called nowadays. When
money is worthless, they will have no
clue how to survive. I strive to not be
this way... I will not do this to my
family. I do wish I had a nearby
neighbor who a guy could run ideas by.
But my neighbors do not have the 5
minutes a day to feed and water the
hens. They do have time to curl, to
chase land all over the country, but no
time to grow a bit of food. Sucks to be
                              them, IMO.
