    value of pasture

I recently purchased a quarter of pasture
land (native grassland) near Saskatoon and
was wanting to rent it out. It has a good
dugout and a 4 wire fence around the
entire perimeter. I want to rent it out,
but have no idea want pasture is worth.
    Any ideas?

Probably 100 bucks a head, or per pair.
Also depends on agreement for fence
    maintenance, etc..

But I am not a cattleman, just have
rented out to them, and went off of the
pfra rate, less the fact the cattleman
still needs to do all the work the pfra
    did for a guy.

Try posting this in the beef forum. But
bear in mind many there are Albertans
and thus probably have wildy higher land
    valuations, and therefore rental rates..

Cow numbers are low so not to much need for pasture , but ifn you can convince someone to plow and put her into crop insurance then you can cleanup if they will share.

Get paid up front. My advice, as I have rented
pasture. 30 cows with calves, not a cent, not
even a half of beef, my experience.

Les, I sell "standing hay" to cowboys. No rental
deal. Maintain farming status. Hassle free.Good
guys. Handshake. Years of doing the same thing.
