    Record temps in the books

Environment Canada is reporting that Edmonton City Centre, the city of Lacombe, AB and the town of Rosetown, SK all broke 65-year temperature records. Edmonton got down to -14.8°C, breaking the previous record of -13.9 degrees, Lacombe reached -17.9 degrees, just squeaking by the last record low of -17.8, and Rosetown dropped to -17.4, beating out -16.7 as the town's old record, all set in 1948. Joining them are the towns of Meadow Lake, SK and Wynyard, SK, who broke 1997 records by getting down to -21.6 and -20.8 degrees, respectively, and Watrous, SK who broke the 2002 record low of -15.0°C by get-ting down to -17.7 degrees. The 'biggest' record breaker in the region was Edmonton International Airport, where the temperature dropped to -20.0°C, shattering the old record of -16.4°C from 2002.

More CO2 please! Ice age coming.

I was to Fort Mac Murray and Edmonton last
week. They at least have very little snow....fields
poking thru. We have around 3' left in the field.

Wondering why you mentioned Rosetown...is that
where your at? I have a cousin who farms there. If
you farm at Rosetown I am sure you know them.
    Cheers

By the same token, 30C in Washington, D.C. today.
Someone there is thinking 'we have to stop this Global
warming'. One thing all agree on is that weather and
climate are two different things. I'm on the fence on
this one, both sides raise strong points.

Ask the guys in toronto today about climate change, All along they have beeen saying more severe weather and they are right , UNLESS we just get the bad news storys. I feel here we are not in what I can remember as normal, but I have only been around 68yrs so that is a very short period in the real scheme of things. Mabey they wernt normal.
One event dosent make a change in pattern.

fj, can you imagine another wet one? I
mean, how long can guys hang on in this
country? A decent year every 4 or more is
            not sustainable is it?

Until we have more frequency of events that are all
time record breaking, I am not convinced this is
                        anything more than cyclical weather.

When they say warmest or coldest day day since
1888 that was a long time ago that it was this
                        extreme.

Now if it was a new record that was just broken last
year and broken again this year then I would be
                        more concerned.

Lets be more concerned with pollutants and spend
our efforts cleaning up that area in order to do
                        something productive.
