An innovative neighbour has become annoyed with the
slow snow melt here... and decided to do something
about it.
At $20/t... and an application rate of 20 pounds per
acre... the cost is 20 cents per acre. Slag coal.
Application is in addition to this. Spin spreaders work
well. Headlands can be done separately... and the bush
lines maybe should have an increased rate. Check out
the moisture content of the slag coal. Some is 25% and
hard to make flow in the spreader... dry is best...
Feed it through the hammer mill... for a finer cut and
faster melt on the snow!
Dry coal can then be applied by air if it flows well
enough.
Happy snow burning!
Cheers!
