mismanagement of Alberta producer checkoff funds

On April 24th 2013, the Alberta Barley Commission
listed THIRTEEN paid staff on its website:
    http://www.albertabarley.com/commission/contact/co
    ntact.html

By comparison, the Alberta Canola Producers
    Commission listed 6: http://canola.ab.ca/staff.aspx
the Alberta Pulse Growers listed 7:
    http://www.pulse.ab.ca/about/staff/#.UXgyUL8nLdk
and the Alberta Wheat Commission listed 4
    http://www.albertawheat.com/about-awc/staff/

The last time I checked, barley acres were declining all
over Western Canada. Why are all of these people
sponging off the backs of farmers? What's the return?
    How are they all justified?

    Something smells rotten.

    All checkoffs smell rotten.

But I am a guy that believes that if you want money, ask for it, don't just take it.

The Albertie Barely Communisim is a user
agency, collecting much needed cash for
the PC slush fund ta keep gettin re-
elected. It is a front, a fraud, a
hoax, a joke which produces a silly
willy paper and gives it ta producers
saying the same things over and over and
over again. Barely is good fer ya, butt
the Albertie Barely Communism is better
      so contribute and bee happy.
fharperenritz eh! I won't say I told ya
so, butt, I told yas so many, many, many
times boohoo to those who shouted me
down. All checkoffs are frauds, user
      fees, taxes boys/grils........

Mismanagement and uncontrolled growth is the
product of a system where farmers and seed
plants are FORCED to deduct, record, remit and
report so that the organisation can bumble along
and entertain the elected. No information is
shared. Information is hoarded by the select few.
Do I sound like Oneoff? It is quite a system! You
        pay, I play. Fun, right?

if your unhappy about how things are run in your commisions then gather some farmer support and make a motion at the meetings that they move toward one cereal commision one pulse commision and one oilseeds commision in western canada.
these western canadian based orgs could likey run with the same amount of staff you have to run one organization in Alberta.
we could then spend the money on what it was meant for , research, market development, logistics, and policy.
          not so much overhead
          get more meaningfull work done!
