funny $hit you see in the field

today while spraying i came across an antelope
wearing what looked like a pink frizzy afro. after
further examination realized it was frayed and faded
baler twine stuck right on top of its head.
unfortunately i could not snap a picture quick enough
before it ran off, i am sure it was too embarrassed to
stick around for a photo opp. Just wondering what
other funny $hit people have seen while in the field.

Have had quite an increase in 13 stripe gophers. While mowing the yard these critters would stand by their holes until the mower almost got 'em then down the hole they'd go. On the next pass they would be right back on their turf watching as I sailed by. Not destructive like regular gophers and don't leave mounds either. Since the influx the pocket gopher population has dropped as the 13 striped ones must drive them out. Often one can walk within 6 feet of these guys before they scramble.

Was seeding last week when a duck popped out right in front of the tractor. Didnt have time to stop and ran right over a nice nest of eggs (typically I lift over or seed around them).. Felt kind of bad but $hit happens. Anyways a couple passes later I see a massive eagle of some kind, I mean its big big. Its trying to fly out of the durum stubble with something its caught but cant lift it. As I get closer it finally relinquishes its prize and flies away. I can see in the tall stubble that whatever it had caught was still very much alive so I stop and jump out to look. Here its the mother duck whose nest I had finished off 2 passes earlier. After briefly flopping in the stubble she popped up waddled down the row and flew away.. JUST IN CASE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE HAVING A BAD DAY !!

I am meeting with a potash company this morning . I would imagine this applies to them also, just going to listen to them today. THANKS.

Guess Potash Fever is alive and well. Vale was
going strong here, but abandonded the project.
We heard of offers of 1 mil a quarter. Would be
interested to know how this compares to other
          companies.

Willy, I noticed the same thing here.
Striped gophers everywhere. How they dig
their burrows without spill piles has
always been a mystery to me.

I hope they drive them SOB Richardson
              ground squirrels out too.

I'd bet none of these beats finding bombs in your field.

Now you have my curiousity. Are you close to a military base like Wainwright/Suffux in Alberta or Shilo in Manitoba.

Working an erosion ditch from the wet years with the little cultivator, and a
strange bird landed nearby and started eating worms. Looked like a mini heron, but
was all white with rusty streaks. Turns out it was a cattle egret, which is about
1000 miles out of its range. Kind of interesting.

Checking, Kevin's account of finding the
artillery shells was quite funny. He
said it caused his Twitter feed to
                      blowup ;-)

It was scrolling on CTV news this AM.

Not funny if it was true. Not funny if it was not true.

another time i seen a coyote that was more interested
in watching what i was doing then where he was going
and he walked right into a power pole. maybe it was a
real life version of wile e coyote

I was cultivating and some wierd looking red
headed black body bird with a crooked neck on a
fence post. Turkey Vulture. First time I ever saw
something like that. Very creepy looking thing.

Well the lease is going to look in appearance extremely better than the buy out. Our buy out was 40 thousand, the lease sounds like it will pay 10 times or more almost unbelievable plus in the lease there is still more potash to mine later the life will outlive me, so if its too good it probably is. Let us know how you see it. Supposedly we have the same deal as the gov't owned minerals so were told. Somehow I don't think the gov't is cashing in like we are supposed to be, have not seen much money yet just sign up bonus sort of thing.
