Well it looks like seeding is done for this week!

You know you work almost non stop for 11 days and when you can just barely start to see the end in sight mother nature throws you a curve ball. Well our curve ball arrived Friday night then got going Saturday only to wake up sunday with more rain.
When you live in a area with rain some times you just have to shake your head.
We got to 72% done, which isn't that bad for the time we had to seed this year. But the finish line is just over the next hill and bam your in a mud hole again.
What's funny is seeding was actually fun this year and getting better each day. Tow ropes were used but not every hour.
For some of you who needed rain good for you I hope you have a very successful year.
For the ones who entered the Mud zone again safe seeding, because here we go again.
Rain till Saturday for East Central and SE sask.

Most years a 15 day "good" seeding window is pushing it in the majority of western Canada. Hope you get er done, we have one 270ac field to do but it has turned very wet in areas here too.

Furrow your are correct a 15 day window is the best most areas get. Problem is we lost the first two weeks with snow still on the ground. The winds were great and really did help dry it up. My problem will become worse if we get a usual 3 inch rain in the next 4 days. Then were back to moisture levels of the last three years and that's when Mud starts making a Dud.

Conditions were getting better, but it's MUD under the straw/trash sealed and cold, 12 soil temp. NOT a good seed bed at all. We missed rain yesterday, stayed S of #5. NB, PA and Melfort forecasts have very little rain this week.
MB getting wet this morning again.

60%, most in the area about half done, a few nearly done. Those with fall tilled fields had better conditions.

I agree the fields that I went and Kelly harrowed or ripped last fall were a dream to seed. The ones not touched had issues.

Most in our area needed one more week and seeding 2013 would have been done!

We haven't had a huge amount of rain but what has stopped up is the fog and drizzle. I heard of a few guys try and seed through the fog and end up plugging their manifolds up with caked fertilizer. makes for a short seeding day

Sounds about the same here, some got
finished with a string of good weather,
I was waiting on quackgrass to spray, so
that land is still waiting, about 4" of
rain the past few days. Between the
wind and now the rain, not many spraying
                      days.

I see a comment about air seeders and
wet. I still use hoe drills, and if it
is raining an hour away the hoses will
cake and plug, I always assumed an air
seeder being mostly sealed would be much
better, no? Or do they just blow the
moist air into the hoses and then you
have a huge job to unplug them end to
                      end? Are they any better?

And the worst case is ammonium sulfate, so bad we quit using the sh*t.
Elemental in N blend, no problems in humidity.

we are lucking out in my small area only got a
tenth out that last ugly cloud. yet ground is very
moist and pulling hard was down for a day
broken the hitch of the seedmaster where it
hinges to the drill of course had to be the side
with all the electrical and hydraulic lines. just
got going again. the new weld on parts from
seedmaster are better desiegn and stronger .
forecast here is good till friday now.
