    Friday Crop Report!

Well another week and something is really different this year in east central sask. Not a day with any dew or rain. Really nothing since April 1st except for the 1/2 inch.
Perfect seeding conditions at the end. The end being Monday Night for us. Most will finish up in our area by Sunday.
Early seeded is up. Peas are the best I have ever seen. Round up working very nice. Canola is up Liberty looks better than RR so far. Their is a few flee beetles but no need to spray yet. Monitoring fields.
1st in Crop RR canola has just been sprayed. Early wheat looks very very nice. Now one note any one who Worked deep last fall with tillage is having germination problems. Patchy. Kelly harrowed because of light tillage is not really a issue. Lemkin this spring and canola are not a good mixture seed just sitting their blue as blue and wont grow till a rain.
To sum up our area we could use a little spring rain to get things looking awesome with in the next week. No three or 4 inch down pours like the last few years. Big scary thing on most farmers mind in our area is once it starts the monsoon season it doesn't know when to quit. Have a safe week.

We could use a "Little" rain, but not asking for any, because we all know what can happen..Crops have emerged VG, best we have ever had..Lots of potential..Just hope Mother Nature doesn't spoil it..

Some patchy germination in early seed cereals on lentil stubble here after all the hurricane winds we had in mid may. Close to 3" rain here since last week in slow gentle rains, came just in time. Crops are looking good and germination is evening out in early seeded and looks great on later seeded. Canola looks good and is ready to spray with Liberty and hitting lentils with Pursuit and Assure. Alfalfa finally starting to stretch but most are thinking less production than the last couple of years.

Odyssey residual damage in a 1/2 section durum.
Ugly Moisture is fair to excellent. 1/3 done
spraying. Will need a general RAIN in the next
10-14 days . Crops looks like a 7 on average.
Definately smaller at this point compared to the
last few years. Only 1.2 inch of rain in my yard in
last 350 days. Biggest single rainfall is 0.6 within
        that period. Quite amazing.
