    Friday Crop Report!

Well this week saw the second shower for our area. Real funny rain this year One gauge has 1 inch then couple miles away 4 tents then another 8 tents etc etc.
Most are done seeding one guy had his land handed back to him last week so now he is trying to seed it. It will be Oats.
Most are done seeding and spraying has started this week all over the place. Worst guys for spray drift yes you guessed it the custom operator or the guy who has to get it done just because it has to be sprayed in wind.
Soy is out of the ground and running would be a 9 but it went in one week later than I wanted.
Canola the retarded sister is not doing as great as most had hoped for. Ground has been cool and top dried out so fields don't look that great. It doesn't matter if it was seeded early or late real late is just sitting their if it was preworked. It is a 7. Only reason its a 7 and not lower is we are a week earlier than last year. You can finally see some rows. Less Canola in ground From Regina to Yorkton. How does one know their the fields that you cant see any crop or you can just make out rows.
    Now the excellent crops.
HRS and CPSR are the best they have been in years. One big note is WO is hardly a problem. Clean fields all over. Lower rate Puma Etc. (9)
Barley early seeded is awesome later seeded could use a drink as is very slow.
    Oats up and going.
Peas I would also say is the best they have been in years. No funny sick yellow plants all over the place. (ok the ones the custom guy killed are sick and short)
So to sum it up no crops are above the stubble yet, you can just see rows.
Ground is still cool but the last two days have helped. Wind WIND WIND WIND WIND. Could use a drink of 1/2 to 1 this weekend that's it.
Winter wheat for a note some fields that did germinate good last fall are Ok the rest that were seeded to dry ground look like shit.
Happy fathers day to all and be safe!

Started spraying our wht. yesterday..Best looking wht. we have ever had..Looks like all seeds germinated the same time.Early and later canola is VG also..Lots of potential..Vesper wht. is bigger than the Unity, seeded same day..Even though the seed looked like crap..

      Cereals all look excellent. Canola
looks marginal at best. Just seems to be
sitting there not doing anything, it
just looks sad from flea beetle damage
and whipping around in the wind for the
past couple of weeks. Good germination
though, so hopefully once the nights
start getting warmer it takes off like a
      rocket.

There are no peas of flax in the area so
I cant comment. Located in the NE

Cereals look good except for the odd field struggling to grow out of something or other.
Canola growing very slowly. Seedmaster seeding, fertilizer too close? Canola that had anhydrous applied pre-seeding seems a little more advanced. However flax which should also have fertilizer proximity issues is taking off great. Some canola had some frost damage a while back.

Wheat 4 leaf 2-3 tillers, no stubble to be taller than, Canterra 1990 canola more vigor than Dekalb 7375. VG germ but needed, those 4/10" of rain. Still don't need inches of rain, great to spray corner to corner NO wet spots or RUTS! Spraying general here. Yesterday was a classic calm day! Hope you get a slow gentle rain.

Here's a dumb question. Why is the Friday crop report always reported on a Thursday? Why not call it the Thursday crop report?

I like to be ahead of the curve! Ha ha!
Just started as a Friday crop report that was
easier to do on a Thursday morning!

Greg the reason I started this report is simple. Was sick and tired of listening to the BS out of Sask Ag about crops and conditions in Saskatchewan. It was always WTF are they talking about.
All crops this year are looking great except Canola it has some issues. No Im not writing the 2013 crop off but its not perfect by any means.
Cereals are awesome. Most. unless a F-up.
Peas are best I have seen in years.
                Soy is really surprising me.
                Oats and Barley are good.
