Well up to this morning total for the week was just around one inch rain on all the farms. This morning their is a strong low pressure moving over East Sask and looks like were in its path. Maybe spoke to soon about leaving the flood zone. Oh well was nice to have some open fields again for a while.
HRS is the best its been in years. Most have finished spraying or half done. One field has hit the Ammonia and is wow. Looks like it is irrigated. Sad part its not mine. Seeded 5 days ahead of us. ITs a 10. Pig shit field needed the rain on it and wow what a difference a week makes.
Barley is doing excellent so far this year just have to keep the rain events down to half to one inch a week. Yea good luck with that. Disease issues will be monitored next week and spraying will begin on all Cereals.
Peas finished spraying their in the sick phase and ones done before last week ends rains are coming really nice now.
Soy is up and about 1 to 2 inches in height after yesterdays hot day. looking really good. All fields seeded in area look awesome Some 5000 acres yes its down from the original 10000 in our area but still good.
Canola the retarded sister is getting better with the heat. Cold soil up to this point and flee beetles etc. have taken their toll. Any one who tandem disked last year did not get germ till last weekends rain. Also spring lemken working did not get germ till last weekends rain. Kelly harrowed in spring was same but Kelly harrowed last fall really is showing nice results. Shallow tillage. Canola is a 7 this week up one point due to the heat and inch of rain.
Low areas that were flooded but seeded still have sick looking plants. Ground water table is still high. Approaching the Cabbage stage. Second spraying will take place Monday after the weekend rain event.
Oats is ok up nice and will be sprayed next week. Clean Round up burn off worked excellent with express.
So to wrap up one inch is the precipitation for the week. Crops are all nice but we need some heat. Cool evenings and cloudy days with wind are not what's needed.
