Prayer and thoughts to flood victims in Alberta.

I pictures and tv stories seem like from a third world country, truly saddening.

I hope those poor folks can get the clean up started and begin to rebuild.

Our prayers and best wishes are with them.

    Absolutely, the devastation is terrible.

but when are people gonna learn to not
live in a flood plain? It floods in a
flood plain and that's why they call
them a flood plain. Beautiful when its
not raining, but they flood. 100 years
    for nature isn't very long.

Its dry all around the town of High
River looking at the aerial shots.
Medicine Hat too, only the low areas by
    the river are flooded.

Don't build in a flood plain. And yes,
Calgary downtown is a flood plain. All
    along the bow, the elbow.

      WD9,

Was in Canmore when family members held a funeral
      service down by the creeks.

I would have NEVER imagined that this could happened
      in Canmore.

6 inches of rain in a few hours... over 10" in 2 days...
causing a big melt of snow in higher elevations... 50-
100 times normal volumes in these waterways.

Imagine your farm with 10" in 2 days... and another
20" coming through your property from upstream
farmers. Total devastation would be the result to large
      parts of your farm!

Hard to fathom what has just happened!

I realize that. But i don't build my
farm at the bottom between 2 hills where
all the water has to flow thru.

Water doesn't soak in rock in the
        mountains.

this same thing happened in Nordegg area
just a few years ago. Moved boulders the
size of combines. Changed river routes.
Made 8 foot high culverts with no water
going threw no longer required because
the river now was half a mile away.
People trapped in campsites etc. washed
        out highways.

Mudslides out by banff not that long ago
either. Highway was closed for days.
        Huge rainfall.

It keeps happening. Flood plains flood,
ruins lives. And we wonder why.

          I don't wonder why!

We learn from what happens... uncontrolled events on
planet earth are always present! Built into this
          wonderful awesome system/creation!

How we help each other... and work together... is the
good outcome that is possible! "Character" is built by
          such events!

          Cheers!

unfortunately some are dying from that
            character building.

Exshaw, 3 creeks go thru that town. Why
do people put themselves in such risky
            situations?
