The Royal Canaian Mounted Police are a national
police force. The commissioner is appointed by
the prime Minister. If it was local police, I agree,
it would be a provincial matter.

How the RCMP conducts themselves is indeed
the business of every Canadian, including Wil.

Once again I know that with Parsley and her
gift to gab(which I wished I had), let me ask
you this. Pars, now that we know you are are
Radical(admitting the problem is half the
battle), and no laws should be entitled to you,
let me ask you this. If you came home some
day, and someone had broken into your
house, and had gained controlled of the rifles
you just kept lying around(since no laws apply
to you), who is the first person you would call
? Now anyone that answers truthfully, will say
the RCMP. Now do you really thing that
because no laws should apply to you, that it is
right to now put someone else's life in danger?
Back to hauling grain for the rest of the day
      for me.

In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck New
Orleans. An evacuation order was issued and 90% of
the population got out. Of the other 10%, many did
not know of the order, some lacked the means and
others stayed to defend their private property.
Among the first to skidaddle were 30 % of the
NOPD, many of them in their patrol cares and were
later charged and convicted of theft of public
property. NO did not have an effective Disaster
Response Plan. We saw the results.
In the days following, police were ordered to
perform a search and rescue role and ignore law
        enforcement priorities. Widespread looting, violence
by gangs, vigilantes and individuals with an axe to
        grind followed. Police helicopters attempting
rooftop rescues were fired upon. Unarmed citizens
trying to escape to safety were gunned down. At
times the police were the problem. It finally took
the arrival of the Army, including a Division of the
82nd Airborne to restore peace and order. The State
National Guard had been called first, but most of
their equipment and 27% of their manpower was in
        Iraq.
In the final official report 1,464 fatalities were
counted. No number of how many of these were
murder victims - autopsies were not performed and
many of the bodies were badly decomposed. But it
is estimated that the number is over 100.
Louisiana has very loose and easy gun laws. So to
some of you, I ask, is this the Utopian Society that
you envision? As one cop responded to a tourist
begging for help after being totally abandoned -
"Get the hell out of here - it's everyman for
        himself".
This is all in the final report.

          Wow, rockpile.

If I were from High River, I think I would strongly resent being compared to the average New Orleans resident.

You maybe should not go saying that stuff around too far . . .

burnt - put your thinking cap on. I am not comparing
the people of High River to New Orleans. Quite the
opposite. I am pointing out precisely the difference in
how 2 Societies are structured, what values they adopt,
how they react in these circumstances and ultimately
the difference of the outcomes in the end. I am totally
proud of everyone who has been impacted by this
disaster and how they have assembled to help each
            other. Sheesh!

Play A game with me, Agchat, called "Who's the
              Criminal?"

I hate to diminish your perception of me, agchat,
but I'm a very law-abiding citizen, and I keep my
duly registered gun in a locked cupboard with a
              part-time guard-cat on duty. I also keep a
baseball bat handy. I know how to use both
items exceptionally well. And I'm not exactly
              wimpy.

I'll ask you this:, if the RCMP broke into my
locked house, and then broke into my locked
cupboard which holds my gun, and then filmed
doing it, and then had the nerve ton release the
film to be shown across the world, knowing full
well I am in full compliance with the law, why in
the world would I report the theft to the RCMP?

              Therein lies your answer.

              Who is the criminal? Pars

I would rather be a self sufficient,
                    independent hillbilly than a government
                    dependent, fearful yuppie.

Some interesting thoughts of you, Rocky:

                      1. High River had a disaster plan in place. From
what i have read, it did not include the War
Measure's Act. The Emergency Measures Act
                      was never declared.

                      2. The houses were locked. The area was
immediately secured by police, and the army. no
one could get back into town. Access was
                      blocked at all entrance.

3, There is a rumor that the EMA was not
invoked because a judge would not sign the
order for the RCMP as the area was already
                      secured.

                      Pars

                      3. All laws, including the Charter and the Billbof
Rights have to be followed by all citizens
including both police and army. In other words,
the army can't kill 59 women because they keep
getting in the way of sandbagging.

                      4.
