Parsley, you better open the windows and get some
fresh air - the paint fumes are getting to you. Let's
try something different and throw some facts on
the table. Yes, High River had a disaster plan like
every other community in Alberta. But it wasn't long
into the event that the Mayor asked the Province to
assume responsibility for the situation because they
were overwhelmed. All other communities affected
were 'Local States of Emergency'. High River became
    a 'Provincial State of Emergency'.
Now for the rumours. The Emergency Measures Act
is an Act of Govt - like the Highway Traffic Act. You
don't need a judge to sign anything - it's an Act of
the Legislature administered by the Dept of
Municipal Affairs. And it is broad and
comprehensive. At the top of the heap is the
    Alberta Emergency Management Agency. They
administer 9 specific response plans each designed
to respond to different risks or situations. The top
dog is the AEMA Director. When the Province
accepted responsibility for High River, it was the
Director who immediately invoked the 'Emergency
Assistance Plan - level 4' (highest level) which
allows for the Director, Cabinet, Premier to call on
all assistance and resources available. That's when
the army came. This is the Reader's Digest version.
Finally, this whole gun stuff is a big yawn among
the locals who are far more interested in just having
    a normal life again.

      There is a problem, Houston.

The Emergency Act was not invoked until the
      28th.

The search and seizures took place before the
      28th.

Dates do matter say the gossips. Pars

What is a big yawn to some,( for instance break
and enter), is a really big deal for others.

And that is how freedom is kept or lost. Pars

Rockpile, are you an advocate for all the
feelings and emotions of everyone whose
house was broke into to sum it up by
saying, 'who are far more...' ?

Two words come to mind...shock doctrine!

I'm starting to hear rumors now that the
police were not able to secure the city.
There was indeed a gang of thugs other
than the rc's stealing stuff. Regardless
            instead of directing efforts towards
            catching criminals they decided to
            violate innocent peoples privacy and
            property rights. Nothing like coming
home to a flooded home to unexpectedly
see your front door flapping in the wind
            and your belongings gone.

Oh and no dope smoking here either.

Rocky et.al. using your logic you are
basically saying it's ok do something
wrong as long as something worse is
              happening simultaneously? If that's the
case please feel free to share your LLD,
or more likely address, I'm guessing.
That way next time something terrible
happens to your community I can come
              help myself to your possessions...for
              your protection that is.

Well, I shouldn't get involved but if you want me to say
it and not mention any names:
but Rocky and Franny might fit in well in Orwell's
Animal Farm, but not until they have read 1984.

Wow! The more we find out about this the worse it gets. Look at the last video that I put up.

A house no where near the flood water, with no flood damage, power hadn't been off, nothing wrong with it. The cops break open the front door, making the place less secure, leave muddy footprints to the guys gun cabinet that's hidden in a closet and don't even bother to close the closet door after they've found it. They leave the guns in the gun safe but everything else is wide open to the public!

How on earth does this make anyone safer?! It doesn't!! It just makes everything worse!

And when they say they got "several hundred" guns this way you really have to shake your head. I can see them finding the odd rifle in a closet here and there without a trigger lock on it. But SEVERAL HUNDRED?! Give me a break!

10 at my place. So that would add up fast. I am sure these are all just local hunters and such? Don't really agree with the break and enter tactics. Just saying a few hundren guns is nothing.

Rockpile, what do you think of franny's
                              last video?

In it we find out that the CBC wants to know about all of the marijuana that the Mounties also seized while going door to door. Yes pot is illegal, yes grow ops are illegal but again the purpose here was supposed to be looking for people. Helping survivors in a crisis situation is a noble thing, using them as an excuse to break into private property to look for pot and guns is not.
