Cotten, Ive never gotten all the way through BNW, although I am
worried when I see some of AH's future arriving.. Choosing a life and
career path for school children is done in some countries and also to
some extent in Manitoba where teachers make up their own their
minds about the capability of students and it's difficult to accept. It
happened to one of my children, the school had decided he was only
capable of a general high school education and when he did
assignments that were worthy was accused of getting his parents or
someone else had done the work. Was very difficult for him.. He went
on to get 2 university degrees and has become a fine teacher. Other
    Huxley forecasts are too scary.

Thanks to you who replied about my booboo, especially Fransisco.

Bwaahaha!!! Franny, your news sources are always
Sun Media. That's not news - that's News Talk like
talk radio, a host, an opinion and controversy =
ratings. Any wonder Sun News is losing money and
wants MANDATORY inclusion for providers. And
why does that guy try to look like Mr. Snoozy, aka
Rob Anders? Boy they sure have the rolling eyes and
arms up into the air perfected. They must study Fox
      a lot.
I am thrilled that the Chief Commissioner of the
RCMP has asked for an inquiry into this mess but I
sure do hope they get right to the top as to who
issued the directive. Could it have been Vic Teows
maybe? I will either be elated or very disappointed
by the findings, but it's apparent we have a system
of checks and balances in place that can work.
Cott, I like Orwell too and have read both 1984 and
Animal Farm among some interesting essays he
wrote. But Huxley, if you are referring to 'A Brave
New World' remember, it was a one world
corporation that seduced the population with a
drug, and if that is what you mean then I am with
you. At some point in the future, the world will be
controlled by one large corp, not one large
Government. Hope all is well with everyone and my
      wishes for great weekend.

Strange question. The whole discussion is about High
River and not about the other communities that were
impacted including Calgary. I am sure things were
not done perfectly in the other disaster areas. What
          made High River different?

I wonder about how many drugs, grow ops,
needles etc that were laying around. Out
of all the houses you can't tell me there
            wasn't some drug para found.

Some dirty needles laying in the mud
could be more dangerous for the EMS/ etc.
than a gun on a shelf!

Okay rockpile you don't think there's any news in the clips I posted. Start showing us what's not true in them. Time to put up or shut up.

Its always amazing to me how people who badmouth Sun or Fox never put up the clips to show us what they're talking about. And then never address them when someone else actually does put them up.

The truth is that you live in a bubble and every time someone burst that bubble with some inconvenient facts you can't handle it. So instead of facing the argument head on you just bury your head in the sand, stick your fingers in your ears, and go Na,Na,Na,Na,Na, I don't want to hear it, especially if it comes from mr. poopy pants over there. Real mature.

A link to nothing? Not sure how that helps your argument that nothing much really happened in High River.

section. Or are you just shutting your eyes, plugging
your ears going nah, nah, nah, nah - I can't here you.
                    Pop YOUR bubble!!!

Harper joins clean-up in High River

The Prime Minister took some time to speak with the media this afternoon. Stephen Harper and his wife Lorraine, rolled up their sleeves and got to work in High River yesterday. Harper says, "Myself and my wife were doing a bit of volunteering there yesterday. There are a lot of homes and businesses that continue to need a lot of work." In response to questions, Harper did say the RCMP acted in the public's best interest when they confiscated unsecured weapons while doing home to home searches for victims during the flood.

So now we have quotes from Harper on both sides of this issue. How politician like.

Well I disagree with this particular statement. " Harper did say the RCMP acted in the public's best interest when they confiscated unsecured weapons while doing home to home searches for victims during the flood."

I base my disagreement on the video evidence posted above of the house which was not flooded, in which the door was kicked open and the cops left a nice trail right to the gun cabinet with the guns still in it. That was neither in the homeowners best interest or that of the so-called public. And my guess is that this was not an isolated incident.

BTW- rockpile you said Sun was the only one covering this thing. Yet you yourself found a non Sun source that was also covering the story. Interesting.

And why would the Prime Minister be commenting on a story that you don't think is important if, well, it weren't important.

Then there is the official inquiry looking into the gun grab. Yeah, you got me there I guess they have those for things that nobody cares about all the time.
