Food- Navigator-USA Article on Labelling GE Crops

An interesting article on GE and labeling. Worth the read.

    Thanks Charlie, very interesting.
The difference in perception of GE between US
and UK is wider than the ocean which separates
    us.
Mostly down to that BSE mouse that implied the
possible human link which now might not even
    be true.
If it turns out that BSE is just a cattle desease it
will never get the media coverage needed to
reverse the fear generated back then.

You asked ianben so I will let him respond. Here is another article (actually listen to the audio) that may add a little clarity to the issue of consumer confidence in their food (UK at least). For those that wonder, I actually didn't google this. Food Navigator USA is something I scan every morning.

Just to help me understand, are you talking about irradiation of meat or irradiation as used in mutagenisis?

              #7
              Generally reference to mutagenesis is
ionizing radiation, but in this case i
was referring to irradiation of meat
              products. (falling on a surface)

              Definitions oy. Radiation is the
              emmission while irradiation is the
              falling on a surface.

Personally I had no idea, as I think I have tried to
explain I just eat and enjoy food without too
much thought about its origin. Must admit I had
noticed the Spanish strawberries which are now
available year round never seem to go mouldy.
Did know they were irradiated but still see no
problem eating them as better than being
                mouldy

                  Ianben
Can you give us an update on the British poultry
situation where in April one of the supermarket
chains said it could no longer promote some
products as coming from flocks fed on GMO free
feed, saying there was a lack of supply?
